Roberts Admits Alcohol Problem

Swindon Town striker Christian Roberts is to spend time at the Sporting Chance clinic after admitting to an alcohol problem.

Roberts, 26, explained to the club last Friday that he needs help and the player will now spend a residential period at the Sporting Chance clinic in Hampshire in a bid to beat his problem.

Swindon Town FC have given the player their full support as he begins the road to recovery. Swindon Town Manager Iffy Onuora commented:

"The club will support our players when they need help and I admire Christian for facing up to his problems and seeking help. I am sure he will benefit from his time with Sporting Chance and we look forward to welcoming him back to The County Ground."

All the best Christian, good luck.  Hasn't Tony Adams got something to do with the formation of that place.  I'm sure I saw a programme about that once.

Just what we need

Hope he gets over it, and turns back into the Roberts of old. If he plays for us again that is...

Even more reason NOT to sell Fallon....

Blimey, explains a lot mind. And yes it is Adams clinic.

Good luck with it because regarless of if it is his own fault or whatever alcoholism is terrible and can end your life.

Boston striker Noel Whelan also checked in a day or two ago too.

Agreed DV, hope he sorts himslef out, but realistically he's not gonna play for us for the foreseeable future.  Tony Adams does have some level of ownership of sporting chance, and they've sorted out guys like clarke carlisle and mutu amongst others.  I believe its free? like a charity sort of thing, I've seen it on TV etc, lets hope it works for robbo.

I just hope Tony Adams can work his magic on him and he comes back a better player.

Just look at Joey Barton, he went there to control his anger and aggression problem and now he's currently one of the best Midfielders in the Premiership this season.
