I wonder if the fact STFC gave him a couple of bottles of champagne (MOM award) after every home match contributed to his current state of affairs.

Every match he played in he seemed to win the mom.

Joey Barton is different, his anger doesnt make him put on weight and be unfit....

Is Roberts out of contract in the summer, how long is he in the clinic....we'll we see him play for us again?

I think when Lee Holmes won MOM Roberts had the champers as Lee Holmes was too young to drink it.

Every time I went in the players lounge after matches, I'd always see Roberts walk in with his champers in arm.  Saying that he always gave it straight to his wife though!

In all seriousness I hope he gets it sorted and returns better than ever, always came across as a nice fella!

I agree... aside from the joking.

Its odd that its always the others that are seen out and about drinking heavily but hey at least hes getting help now.

2 players within a couple of months of each other with alcohol related issues.  Not too good is it.

best of luck to christian & i hope he can sort himself out.

would be a shame to see his career go down the pan because of something like this. he can be a match winner on his day & still has a lot of potential.

He's not one I've ever seen out in Swindon, unlike messrs Pook, Nicholas and Fallon who seemed to enjoy Walkabout on friday.

Well they say admiting you have a problem and facing up to it is one of the hardest things with addiction.
Good luck Chrissie!

We do seem to have a drink culture at the club :-))(  :x ,which surely doesn't help out on the pitch.I'm not saying the players should live like monks but they should behave like professional athletes, not drinking in town on a saturday night would be a start.

To be fair to the guys that were out on friday they didn't seem in any way pished.

I agree with the drink culture, I feel we've never fully shed the one that developed and became entrenched under McMahon, by all accounts it was this that forced Digby out of the club.  No harm in having the odd drink but it needs to be kept a lid on IMHO.  Maybe currently a symptom of a youthful squad.
