You can do classes such as Body Sculpt.  It basically tones the upper and lower body with some CV work which sculpts and strengthens muscles also increasing stamina.

They do this at my gym and its suprising how many blokes go, apparently its really really good for you. At least with classes it makes you motivated to go whereas you can go to the gym anytime.

Bollocks Lady beat me to it, but I agree with her.  Sign up to the gym classes, they're much better for you, and as you're being shown to do things by a qualified person you can be sure you're doing things right.  Give that a few weeks and I bet you'll feel a lot better.

Sit ups actually do fuck all to lose fat around the gut, they only strengthen the abs but you won't notice cos they'll be under layers of fat!

Sit ups will make you appear slimmer because the tighter abdominal muscles pull in the fat. If you want to lose fat you need to cut down on carbs but still eat a bit of fat. If you eat carbs your body will burn carbs first, whereas if you eat fat, it will burn fat first. Cutting out carbs and eating a little bit of fat will help you lose some.

A couple of my mates are into body building and they will eat 1 meal with carbs a day (breakfast or lunch), then 2 other meals with minimal/no carbs, when they are trying to lose fat.
