There are better curries in life than a vindaloo..
That said I've never had one - I'll go for taste over hotness so always choose something nicer off the menu
Looking forward to proper Indian food in India in January

Looking forward to proper Indian food in India in January You should have a few Vindaloos to get aclimatised. Real indian food will probably be much hotter

It's all about balance as I understand.
Real Indian food comes in three parts - The veg or meat, the hot sauce and the cooling raiti or cream.
You then make your own, put the base in the dish, then the hot sauce (which is nuclear power), then balance it with cooling(!) raiti or cream
Having it pre-mixed as we do in England is not the INdian way...
Although I;m prepared to stand corrected

I had a great curry tonight. The madras was perfect hotness and tasted susan blime. The onion bhajis were even more fantastic. Madras is my favourite curry, only had a couple of vindaloos but it's impossible to taste anything!
