From Swindon, you can be onto the m42 in 75 minutes, knowing it's somewhere near Leed ish? I would speculate 3.5 hours traffic permitting?

I am thinking the same, Dave.  To drive, or not to drive.  I'm optimistic i could do it on 3.5 including piss-stop.

I have done Cricklade to leeds in 2.5 hours. You could get off the motorway in 3 hours easy but the traffic usually means that it takes 30mins to get from motorway to the ground

To state the bleedin' obvious it depends on traffic. I have done Ciren to York a fair few times from anywhere between 3.5 hours and 6 hours (Christmas eve)  - using the A429 fosse way up to the M1 via the M something or other.

York is a bit further than 'uddersfield too.
