Yes & no.
I think fans of clubs like ours just look at the FA Cup as a means to make money.
Is a 1st round game against Aldershot going to bring in significant cash? Nope. Is it appealing? Nope. Is a mid week replay appealing, super nope.
Is a 3rd round tie at home to Newcastle appealing? Yes. Is a mid week replay away at St. James Park appealing, hell yeah. Are two games against Newcastle going to bring in significant cash for the club, absolutely
Which goes back to my earlier point, we only like the FA Cup when it suits us. The same way the ‘bigger clubs’ only start taking it seriously when they get to the 1/4 or semi finals.

For today only, you can buy a home shirt for £25
Odd timing?
Bizarre. Cash flow?

That’s not just us, though. Every club’s fans in L1/2 don’t care much until they get into Round 3.

Yep, exactly, but if we got to Round 3 and ended up with a draw against Rotherham away, I can’t see us getting too excited.

Odd timing? I mean if it was cash flow you'd think you'd pick a busy game. overstocked because everyone bought the home shirt instead? £25 can't be far off cost price?

Tbf, that wouldn’t be exciting! I went to MK last week but I wouldn’t bother if we had them in the cup. As an aside, clubs get £40,000 for being in Round 1.

How can you talk on behalf of all fans though? I love the FA Cup first and second rounds. Looking forward to today. Let’s hope we don’t go out mind.

6k would be a good turnout today. The prize money for progressing would be handy no doubt.

I think it’s £41k for winning round 1 https://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/prize-fund

6k Town fans would be a good turn out, not so much 6k including 1.2k Aldershot fans IMO.

Around 150 of their fans just descended on the Wyvern tavern in town. Looking for fights!

How did that go down? What happened? I imagine there won’t be too many up for a ruck in the Wyvern.

Isn't it hard enough already being a Town fan without loving the second rounds of Cup competitions?
