Or maybe they were hanging on to it until January, but were persuaded to spend it now, on the basis that in January it may be too late?
I mean that’s less ‘increasing’ the budget & more ‘moving it around’ but our hierarchy aren’t know for telling the truth. …but…again, if it was saved for January & bought forward for arguments sake that means our budget was fully spent & our squad complete BEFORE deadline day whilst that money sat there…

Fitton is trusted. Morfuni is not, because he has a history of empty or misleading words. Fitton is not a miracle worker. But he is leagues above what we currently have.

They are clearly economical with the truth, but I was thinking they were spending money they haven't got yet, but are expecting later. Either way, our "competitive" budget clearly wasn't

148 days since we last won a game (forget pre season). Must be heading for a record. All the records achieved by this club since the new regime have been humiliating ones. I would have gone to the Newport game this weekend in years gone by.

I would have gone to the Newport game this weekend in years gone by. You can only count it by games played not time scale as 103 days of that 143 we didnt have a game. So its technically 10 games now since we last won (7 lost and 3 drawn) including 2 cup games. In 2010-11 we went 20 games without winning and losing 11 of those, only league games. In 2005-06 we went 11 games without winning including 8 games lost in a row, only league games. In 2022-23 Lindsey went 9 games without winning including 5 defeats, only league games. And thats just in the last 20 years, so nowhere near the worst record yet.

Well, we know where we're goin' But we don't know where we've been And we know what we're knowin' But we can't say what we've seen And we're not little children And we know what we want And the future is certain Give us time to work it out

You're right about the summer of course, but it will now be that five full calendar months elapse without Swindon Town winning a competitive game of football. Not good for the soul.

Probably the kitman, or Dot Cottton
