Archer (correctly) omitted from the second Test squad. The hype around him has been completely mental. Hes good, no doubt. But he doesn’t need to be shoehorned in.

Why they didn’t just let him play in this weeks county game for Sussex to get some more overs into him I don’t know.

Not shaping up as a thriller this one, but England do seem to manage to make a game out of the deadest pitches. This is certainly a challenge...
Gill looks like he's not letting the captaincy get to him. India probably already regretting not picking Kuldeep mind.
If we'd picked Archer I think he might already be injured!

This seems like a very good batting wicket (not to take anything away from India in general or Gill specifically) but England should be able to match anything India post. Do that and the game almost restarts. Knowing how good England are at chasing could get to the Indians in the second innings.
Then again England could post 300 and its game over.

Not looking *quite* such a brilliant batting wicket now.
I'd take your 300 Qunk...

This is all my fault. I should know by now not predict things. I’m wrong 99.9% of the time. To all fans of English cricket…I apologise.

Him and Brook both. Still 300 behind and it feels like England are well on top, this side definitely have an aura about them even if the actual reality is a bit more complex.

Still a massive ask, but if we can get within 100-150 behind you'd somehow give us a chance still.

Six ducks and two 150s. What an unusual card.

India's lead is now more than the highest ever chase in professional cricket, and they're still not declaring.
England are in their heads, if nothing else.

England openers showing what happens if you are a swisher with a lack of technique.
If you leave the ball when it ain’t hitting the stumps you won’t get out!

It's a new ball pitch, most of the wickets in the game have fallen around a new ball.
Crawley is just not very good though. 56 tests averaging 30.

Root got a good ball, but was trying to play a ball on middle and off to leg.

He won’t get dropped sadly. Has played his part (no matter how small of a part) in our best opening partnership since Cook and Strauss. England like to say he has performed well v Australia and India but apart from one century against Australia, there’s not been much of a return
