I had an Amiga 500 in 1998, second (or 3rd/4th) hand of course. I remember my mate (yeah they do exist) getting a C64 in about 1999 and us hammering the fuck out of Frogger.

You rich cunt  Pint

C64 as in Commodore 64, that would have been bloody ancient in 1999, even the games system thingy.

I have a ZX Spectrum +2 and used to love playing Footballer of the Year!

I can remember playing a very simple football game where pre-game there were 3 or 4 mapped moves, and you had to line up your blob at the right time in order to score the goal or goals, thus giving you a better chance of winning games. It was something like Brian Cloughs soccer, or one of those types of games. Anyone have any ideas what is may have been?

FOTY - loved that game - played it a lot on my mates speccy.

Then bought it on my c64 and realised there really wasn't any more to it than I'd already seen.

Don't even need to press play on that video, I still remember the music!

I used to play that a lot too, loved it, buy some goal cards, play for oyur country etc, remember about 12 moves and you could get more goals than Doyle did for us last year!

Looking at the video above the graphics were considerably better on the C64 thn they were on the speccy!

Speccy 48k 8 colours and 256x192 pixels.

C64 16 colours and 320x200 pixels.

Easy win with the far superior hardware for the C64 there!

Yeah it's weird how as a kid now, it's quite fashionable to have older gaming systems. Back then, whilst several of my school mates were getting a relatively new Mega Drive/Saturn/SNES I was still playing on my Amiga but had acquired a Sega Master System (not the rounded one but the long rectangular one), bloody loved that console, had the laser gun and everything and a few secret games you could load if you keyed in the right directions as it powered up. Default was Safari Hunt, Hang On (I think) and a Maze game. For me though, I loved Action Fighter, Olympic Gold 1992 and Obviously Sonic.

Back to Amiga briefly, did any of you own the "Maverick" joypad. That was an awesome bit of peripheral magic and I think it was multi console too. Just remember it having several switches on it and ours must've had something break because it rattled inside as a lonely plectrum would in an acoustic.
