I started off with Football Manager on the ZX81

Thats the one, Kevin Toms Football Manager but you had to have the 16k expansion pack dangling precariously off the back of the machine.

Ray Clemence was the best keeper and Peter Withe the best striker who cost £50k to sign.

Must be a couple of years younger than you, as mine was KJ Toms' Football Manager on the Spectrum 48k. I seem to remember all the players stats just changed every year, very odd.  Loved it though.

I was a very young (and fortunate) kiddie when I had a ZX81. The old folks got me a C64 in 84 - from Rumbelows in Chippenham if I recall correctly.

I had an Amiga 500 in 1998, second (or 3rd/4th) hand of course. I remember my mate (yeah they do exist) getting a C64 in about 1999 and us hammering the fuck out of Frogger.

It's nice to maintain a sense of humour though.

I spent many a year playing GOAL on my Amiga.

I had Kick Off 2 which I think was created by the same chap. I seem to recall playing that with Sensi on my A1200.

Rings a bell. PV would more likely be accurate on that front. I remember playing Another World which was an interesting concept of a game for it's time. I believe that it was created using mostly Vector and was one of the first games to include proper cutscenes.

I absolutely loved Player Manager by Dino Dini, fantastic game using the KO Off game engine.

Pissed off as Swindon wasn't one of the 50 or so default teams, always used to play for Anco United.

I played that game as well PV! But I never really was a team player and used to just sprint around the pitch trying to dribble and score every time. The Player Manager was always miles faster than the rest of the players!

Yeah I played as a team and was still playing at right back while my PM was 45+ and had a pace of about 1/100 Smiley so I could still play, used to love that game, probably played it more hours than I have any Football Manager since.

I was absolutely awful at all those type of games, kick off, player manager etc. I enjoyed them though, which of course is the main thing!
