This is where superstition meets fact and data I think.
Grimsby is not a bogey team, previous results have no influence on the result this weekend. BUT....
...it is a tricky place to go for us. Clearly Grimsby would win the league every year if it was just because Cleethorpes has a Hex on teams, so why? Maybe because the type of football we have tried to play in the majority of seasons is not as well suited to the conditions you find there. It would interesting to compare our performances vs. team who play like Lincoln did last season for example. That probably also speaks to Reg's comment about the three wins, in times of the year where better conditions are possible. Is it a combination of factors - most games being Autumn/Winter, us playing the wrong type of football for those conditions and, obviously, we tend to play them when we are near enough each other in ability.
Clearly this type of analysis is presented with Cheltenham and concludes witches must be involved in that one, there is nothing else in Science that explains it.

Grimsby away can probably be considered a bit of a bogey team TBH.
With just 1 win for Swindon in the last 15 matched played up there, a 2-1 win in 2003 when Mooney and Gurney scored.
That is also the only time we have come away from there with any points in the last 7 meetings between the clubs in Cleethorpes.
I don't like the whole "bogey team" thing as I think its bollocks, but Cheltenham have the evil eye over us so there could be elements of the truth in some clubs struggling in games against certain other clubs. Why that is quite frankly is anyones guess.

Good win that one.... I thought a win at Blundell was a good sign for that outfit, but ultimately like a few of our decent sides lately came up just short. I remember the previous win 4-3 in 67. Well exciting you don't get too many 4-3 away wins, but just the 03 win in the last 52 years

It's a slightly strange stat that the FL have sent us to Cleethorpes 9 times for a midweek fixture.... it's almost like they don't like us. We've won our games all 4 of them on Tuesday nights. We've never won on a Saturday.

That is a very interesting and unusual fact.

You fucking heathen! All vinyl should be preserved. There's not a lot of good things left, thanks to this godforsaken species and you want to go around snapping LPs in half!

Not confident, based purely on our track record there. Shades of Cheltenham.
Hopefully I'll be wrong. I usually am.

Grimsby are winless in seven, we’ve won our last five league games. We’re top of the league, they’re 18th. We’ve won all of our games against bottom half sides so far this season.
Grimsby Town 1-0 Swindon Town
