So what do we think is going on with the Donohue deal?

My theory is if he goes down for assault/jail time the contract is cancelled and that the contract is only till the summer with an option for the club. But probably on low wages as he hasn’t got much negotiations weight behind him at the mo.

Wasn't there something about a nightclub incident in 2012 too.

So after the Salford game Wellens said to wait until Monday when asked about Donohue. Wonder what's going to happen?

I like Wellens but hes often economical with the truth and with timescales in his interviews. That could well be out of his control as he reports what he himself knows.

I don't expect things to happen on the day when he says it will now.

I expect Donohue to return and stay till the end of the season or at least January, he is the best left back we have had in a long time and even though Iandolo did fine on Saturday I think we did still missed his early crosses into the box and his better defending qualities.

I think it must be down to inflated wages rather than any upcoming disciplinary proceedings. When he realises he cannot play for any other club other than Swindon or Mansfield(he played 1 game for them earlier in the season) he will come back.

Just my personal feeling and not based on anything.

That he's often economical with the truth regarding player movements is one of the reasons I like him.

Fans don't need to know about this stuff until it happens, and I'm all for the club letting other clubs known as little as possible.

With regards to the ‘two club’ rule

Is it just holding their registration or any competitive game or specifically league games?

Quote
Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs.

And played in the league cup for Mansfield so that’s his playing options gone until the summer.
