However, King was far from pleased with an un-named member of his squad who was less keen to play for the second string.
"People have laughed about playing in the reserves but I will leave them and perhaps let them hang themselves on their own high opinions of themselves," he said.
"They might come knocking on my door but let me say that only I will pick the team from now on."
Sheffield Wednesday winger Richard Evans played in the reserves' 4-2 win over Cheltenham Town but King was not overly impressed.
"I might have another look because Sheffield Wednesday are prepared to pay up his contract," he said.
"But I thought his performance today was poor so I'm not going to make a decision on that." From the WDP[/url]

well to be honest, Thorpe now will be behind cureton for a starting place, and probably Roberts, if he just does well in training, plays in the reserves, he can only try and impress kingy. Not playing won't get him back in the first team.

Bit that intrigued me was they might come knocking on my door but let me say that only I will pick the team from now on which kind of implies either he was ordered to select the player in question or maybe that Reeeeeves/Woan had been given more of a say and this guy was one of their choices? Can't see it being the second option, FWIW Or am I reading too much into this all together?

Roberts played the 90 v Oldham, then 25 mins on Sat ....so probably not him... Thorpe had a cold, so could perhaps have done with some sort of run out.

AK don't like that kind of thing though. Remember Juan Cobian and his "I don't see why I should play 100% for the reserves" and then couldn't understand why he wasn't given a chance to prove himself in the 1st team?
