I used to like that ground.  (Early 1990s memories for me though.)  Not hard to see why they left, but it had something about it.

Brisssle City is the main Derby for me, Reading late 70's early 80's interesting games, remember early 80's a Police documentary was being filmed and the police were wading in to our supporters
As for the Headington united  derby well no for me

Memories is the word.....was a great awayday of the past.

My first trip to Elm Park was in 66....we beat them 2-0, the Don scored a couple of typical high quality goals. I seem to remember it as an evening game, which improved the atmosphere. We averaged 13000 at home that season. Elm Park had about 5000 more in than for a normal game, so you'd reckon that at least 4000 must have been Town fans.

I had a disagreement with a light bulb on the football special, so a bit like Sippo, I was covered in blood, and had a lump on my head for years after.

Martins wine bar next to the station was a victim one year.
Must have been late 70's or early 80's.

I also remember going there one Boxing Day, no idea of the result but can remember a brass band & it being bloody cold

Was that the same match when the exit gates became "up and overs"?

Always the Pox for me, the Slave Traders also matter, but Reading have never figured on my radar... A local non-derby to me.

Seconded. I couldn't give a fuck about reading. I'd think no more of playing them than I would Oldham or Bury.

I concur, I'd add Cheltenham is just a place where we generally lose.

Going back to yesterday, good to see Bournemouth get beat...perhaps the start of a downturn in form? They have Sheffield United at home next week. Yeovil have come from no where and up to 3rd  Eek I thought they were shite when we beat them before Christmas!

Doh ...I like to think we owe them a drubbing after the 4-1 defeat up there!
