My training plan for the winter - I don't have asthma yet, but may well develop it...

You seem to be hitting it hard at the moment !!

Gang, I have a cycling conundrum that i need your help with!
I've had two annoyingly similar and bloody "offs", almost a year apart, which have left me with very thin skin on my right knee.
Has anyone had any experience using MTB knee socks or pads for prolonged (3hrs+) pedalling?

Next time i come off and land on my right knee i think it might be curtains
 No

Must have missed this. I have a few MTB pals who ride with knee pad during epic length rides and seem to find them quite comfy. I think they have Fox.

Eating bacon is a good way to get thicker skin Grin

Ha! that may have been tongue in cheek Smiley

I bought a raceface knee jobbers that thankfully haven't needed to be used yet.

JJ Lobato getting kicked off Lotto Jumbo for sleepytime stuff...?

I am suffering a severe motivational crisis at the moment, weather too shit to go out and we have done a load of work in the garage and to set up the turbo means moving a load of stuff around. Plus after two big challenges to train for last year we have nothing planned for 2018 as yet so I am just drinking and eating too much!

Boooooo!

Am watching a lot of cyclo-cross on Eurosport, even better now the lovely PFP has reappeared!

Ditto on the motivation, eating and lack of goals.

I do have the TT set up and have used it a bit though.

After the ankle/heel/tendon op last year I set myself the challenge of 2017 miles this year which I completed today.

I know compared to a lot of you thats not a great deal but considering 20 months ago I was unable to walk I'm quite chuffed.

Looking forward to a some time off the bike before hopefully doing some more focused training in 2018.

Season's Greetings to you all. Happy riding.

I am in agreement with NMH regarding congrats and ignoring others abilities!

Horlock - There's nothing like booking in a sportive with mates to get you encouraged to train. I've got Amstel Gold in April (240km in a day) and then 5 days in Majorca to work towards in the first half of the year.
I'm tempted to do Velothon Wales again in 2018 (and hopefully get round without a breaking my bike) but it's annoyingly expensive for what it is.

Well finally went out yesterday, first time since September. Did what I would normally (when I am a bit fit) consider one of the shorter easier loops round here, 26 miles and 2014' upwards, and it fucking killed me!

Nearly threw up twice!

I'm considering the Dragon Ride rather than Velothon. 'Just' the Medio Fondo though. Bit cheaper and twice the hillage. Only closed road in certain sections, but a lot less people and probably better standard.

Start 2018 as you mean to go on! Well in Horlock

It was a case of kill or cure, jury still out on that one although legs were surprisingly chipper yesterday, arse less so!

Trying to put together some targets as it at least encourges me to get fit, anyone done this previously as it ould be an excuse for me to bring the bike back to the Shire?

I haven't, but it looks interesting!
A pal is off to complete the Strade Bianche again this year, that climb into Siena looks amazing.

Strade Bianche, is a funny one, as it feels like it's been going for years, but was first rode in 2007

My pal has not ended up going to the Strade Bianchi and i think he's rather happy about that turn of events...

I've predicted Stybar for this year, but it's going to be more of a lottery than normal bike races.
