york road- quality fish and chips and top owners, really friendly frying fish- brilliant curry sauce, matchday special decent terrys(if its still called that?), eastcott hill- rank peatmoor- nice but more than a fiver for F&C is a no no. (also they spray the vinegar out of a cleaning style bottle ) noffs- had great F&Cs in the past, went there recently and it was horrible...maybe just an off day? gills, moonrakers- shit superfry, town- decent food tbf, not a traditional chippy though greenmeadow, nr sheild and dagger- not bad, quite cheap if i remember freshbrook- nasty cavvy- old one before they knocked it down was nice, dont rate new one....havent been there in about 3 years though sussex square- the worst chippy ive ever been to, is it still there? outside swindon but worth a visit if your there...... marias plaice?? or something like that in lechlade- quality and yes i am a fat bastard

When Noff was running it it was absolutely brilliant, he sold it on and it went rapidly downhill. Noff now runs Superfry in town and is really good value, quality product, fair price.

Gills oppositte the Moonrakers, great chips and very clean. The only problem is it closes at 1.30 on a Saturday lunchtime...

What kind of chip shop closes at 130 on a saturday lunchtime? Do they have no business acumen?

ace chippy along marlow avenue in walcot, the one at cavi is nice as well I agree that Khans in Marlowe Ave is great but cavi is just awful, i would rather buy the french fries from Zeera than buy chips from there. I brought some the other week for my son and by the time i had got home( less than 1/2 a mile in the car ) the paper was nearly see through.

There's one real chippy in the whole of Bangkok, and that's hit and miss.

That's why I stopped going to York Road, they close at 2pm on a Saturday. Someone should convince the owner to stay open an extra hour on match days.

Went to York Road chippy before the match yesterday. Haven't been there for ages but they are still as good as they ever were. Best in town for me.

Went in there on Good Friday, and when I left people were queing to nearly the traffic lights...and that was a non-matchday !!
A lot of that is to do with the fact they are painfully slow at serving though, I don't go there before matches any more as it just gets ridiculous. When the Chinese lot used to run it you were in and out in minutes!

Trident Fish Bar is the dogs bollocks. Posh fish and chips.
Loads of people rave about York Rd but I don't really rate it. Stuck in the dark ages with no card machine. Normally some nice (albeit a bit young) birds working though.
