Hi there. My club, Chonburi FC (Thai Premier League), have just signed Thomas Dossevi, one of your former players. He made an immediate impact, scoring a hat-trick inside ten minutes during his debut on Saturday.

Congratulations for your title win in 2007. However the quality of your league is very poor. Most women's football teams in this country could outplay your countries best club teams. Dossevi will score hatfuls of goals with non existent defending.

to be fair, Thomas Dossevi scored a brace in a debut home friendly v Nottingham Forest for us

he wasn't too popular here as he was billed as a striker, didn't score and both he and the home fans lost confidence in him.

in some ways I think he was a reasonable footballer just not too cut out for the English lower league style, lacking the physicality.

He was at FC Nantes in France before us and he may well thrive in Thailand.

One of his goals is okay, but I think it's fair to say, with a decent defence and goalkeeper, he probably wouldn't have scored any.

Fair play to him.  Taking his trade to a beautiful country like Thailand and making a living for himself there.  I wish him all the best.

I don't know in which parallel universe Dossevi is a reasonable footballer.

In 40 plus years of watching STFC there aren't many players who have looked as clueless.
He made the effort but never seemed to have any idea how to read the game.
His struggle with the physical side of the English lower leagues was just an added extra.

Having said that he did take his goal against Colchester last season very well - the only bright spot I can recall.

A lot of investment has gone into the Thai footballing structure of late, and they are beginning to get some respectable attendances (for such an obscure league).

It wasn't long ago that Robbie Fowler was playing here. Past it but must have cost a bit

Thanks for the comments so far.

It's true that the overall standard here isn't that great - Conference level perhaps - but the so called "Big Three" of ourselves, Muang Thong United and Buriram United are trying to raise the bar both on and off the field, and continue to perform admirably in Asian Cup competitions.

I think Thomas will do well in Thailand because of his experiences playing at a higher level and in Europe,and his size. He certainly looked good on Saturday - against the "non-existent defending". :-)

Incidentally, one of his goals at the weekend did have a suspicion of offside about it.
