Get in, back of the net. Thank fuck for that. For me, the best STFC news in fucking ages. Got the wine out - here we go. I am so fucking happy. So very, very happy. I was hoping I'd not have to have a "meltdown" decision and now i haven't. Happy days. Now for that wine. Now lets sure we keep STFC a scum free zone.

Hope that we can now move on and sign a decent striker,i'd rather have Elding or Matt or any number of strikers than Constable.Nothing against him coming from Oxford, just that i don't think he's that good.Surely if we are prepared to pay £200,000+wages we could consider getting Paynter back

Strange turn of events.
The earlier statement read: "Oxford United Football Club can confirm they have received a much improved offer from Swindon Town Football Club for James Constable and after discussions with the player have given permission for him to talk to the club,"
yet he then decides he doesn't want to talk to us. Sounds like decision making isn't a strong point for him.
IF we need another striker then I'm sure there must better around at the price we're reported to have been offering.

At the moment there's not many other clubs in the country that you'd want to be at. Nice one Murray!

More likely other players under the radar. Constable has at least shown some loyalty to the Pox. He will still be on his way I would have thought. Interesting conversation with the Board and player though. Will be funny for him going back to work tomorrow. Who will we bid for next ?

Oxford basically told him, we've had a damm good offer, go and talk to Swindon and sort it. He obviously bottled it.

The good news is that oxford wont be receiving any money from Swindon. And I doubt that anyone would offer the same as us because, let's face it, it must have taken a bid way over what they wanted for him to persuade them to accept the offer from their superiors. And they obviously needed the money. So, well done Constable........

I'm pretty sure they met at the CG. Either one or both sides must have concluded that is wasn't going to work out.

I am not due to start my new job till the end of the month and have beeen getting a little bored, but boy oh boy, today has been comically good!
In the last 20 minutes on the Scum board Constable has gone from being shit to being the white Pele!
Glad he didnt sign as he is no better than what we already have and I dont think would cut it at league 1 level, and at around £200k I thought that was way to much for him!
But I would like to place on record my thanks to Mr Wray, Mr Watkins and Mr Di Canio for a day of comic gold!
I salute you all!

Fuck it
I don't remember being this entertained over transfers before
Let's try again tomorrow. Whether or not he signs is irrelevant.

Oxford must be trying to get another club to put in a bid.
Why would you announce that the club have accepted a bid and allowed said player to talk if the guy had no interest?

Constable, never wanted him, shit cunt waste of skin. Glad we're not getting the useless twat now, etc., etc. i'd rather have Elding... we could consider getting Paynter back
Elding? Are you taking the piss? The bloke couldn't score smack in Glasgow. And Paynter... No thanks. He had his purple patch and recapturing that would be a very big ask. I'd rather have an unknown that might come good.
