I heard that the police have been told to use water cannons mixed with Persil. It stops the coloureds running.

My info is that the Swindon council have been actively encouraging local youths to burn down the old college in the town centre to save em time and money.

What are peoples opinions on the whole shooting incident> - The one that sparked the protest BEFORE the riots started rather than the alledged one from last night.

Difficult to say without knowing all of the facts, but if you are carrying a gun and draw it, getting shot by an armed police officer shouldn't really come as much of a shock.
If it turns out he was trying to surrender the weapon, I might feel slightly differently.

my opinion is if you go around carrying a gun then if the police think you may use it tough shit if you get shot.
clearly use of lethal force needs to be cross checked by enquiry. you can't have police shooting people and hiding behind it.

I think there must be something to it, it's not like all our police are armed so there may have been some pretty exceptional circumstances for this to have happened. I guess we'll find out in time.
I only ask because there's some dude on my facebook getting all righteous about how an innocent unarmed man has been killed which has caused all this...

If any person has a gun about them then if approached by the police they can be expected to be shot at. The police cannot win as if he had started blazing away they would have got a lot of stick...the lads poses on facebook wouldn't have helped his cause either if he was being investigated for a crime.
I do believe though that the police showed a real lack of compasion and understanding of anger when the unarmed De Menzies was killed a few years back,he had no gun about him and the attitude was.....well we thought he was a terrorist,we got it wrong........was there ever an apology to the family?

Things should be fine now, Cameron has said he's taking matters into his own hands

BBC reporter at Highbury Magistrates Court John Brain tells BBC 5 live the first person who appeared in the dock this morning was a 31-year-old teacher called Alexis Bailey. She pleaded guilty to being part of the looting of the Richer Sounds store in Croydon.

Apparently this morning he said “We will do whatever is necessary. Nothing is off the table.” Does that include tactical nukes?
