Besides, they are tracking cookies, someone like yourself who doesn't understand and has a vested interest, will say they are spyware.
Spyware is software installed in your system cache normally by active x to create an executable, from within your temporary interent files folder.
These files then send data about you to advertisers, and clog your system.
A cookie is a non executable text document, containing relevant information, normally about your log on.
The cookie is non malicious, with no tracking data other than to keep you logged in. To even call it spyware is wrong!
This is my cookie. Malicious data... hmmmm, i don't think so!

This cookie as you admit tracks where you go, this behavior then let company's know your likes and dislikes, i.e war books, and then they can send you pop ups for for products you like, i.e like war books, which gives them a prime target for there products
There is no other reason to track you, otherwise it would just keep you logged in, like a 'normal' cookie
