Well, he is willing to shut the paper for the sake of owning Sky, so I think we can tell where he thinks the real profit will come from.
But there is no-way Murdoch will let 3m readers go to rival newspapers. Come the 17th July, there will be another paper to replace it.

National Union of Journalism suggesting that every NotW hack has been sacked.
That'll repair Murdoch's image no end, putting hundreds of people out of work to protect Brooks.

This is a fuck you multiball. 1. You have to let him have Sky, since he is committed to "proper behaviour" 2. Brooks and Murdoch Jr scuttle off to the US. 3. Murdoch Sr proves he would close it rather than do what you tell him 4. Coulson goes to prison 5. Sun on Sunday launches All for the cost of 6 months lost income and redundancy costs and catching everyone out. Murdoch is the best evil genius there is.

Theres probably no chance of anyone catching the corrupt cricketers now.
But I cant believe they went after the fammilies of murder victims and deceased soldiers!
Brooks admitted they paid Police in a commons inquiry. She is guilty as sin.
Anyone else think the incinerators in Wapping might be getting an increase in business over the next few days. Not sacking Brooks/her refusing to resign, proves nothing has changed in my view. News Corp - not fit to own TV stations!

I'm surprised not much has been said about the police handing over information for money.

I was thinking the same thing. He'll be breaking out the bubbly, I would imagine.

Interesting the Lib Dems are so quiet on the issue. Letting Labour stick the knife in.

"Its editor Colin Myler said it was "the saddest day of my professional career".
He added that "nothing should diminish everything this great newspaper has achieved".
Nice to see the closure of the paper is his saddest day not the day he learnt the piece of shit he edited was totally inhuman.
I think there may well be other papers editors shitting themselves particularly the Mail as they appear to have used similar tactics........allegedly

any thought that since they've already settled with sienna miller for about 100 grand it set a bit of a dangerous precedent, what with 4000 names turning up. Of course no one is suggesting that invading the privacy of the families of the dead and the missing is anywhere near as serious as listening in on some vacuous celebritunt's conversation with her hairdresser, but lets just say it was - that would be about 10 years worth of advertising revenue.

A sad end to a great name, albeit one sullied by Rupert in the past few decades.
No more Sunday Screws scandal

But it didn't happen under his watch so what he says is fair enough - 200 people have lost their job today - to save one woman's job - over something that isn't their fault - it occurred years before most of them worked there.
