Really?  So if you just have cash on you, then they won't let you in?

Yeah a few places round me need some photo id to be scanned onto their database to let you in. Ostensibly to make sure you're not known troublemaker/been thrown out before etc but its a lot of information for them to have.

Back in the very early 70's, I used to drink in Yates' Wine Lodge in Nottingham...hard to believe, but it was a sophisticated sort of place for a good meal, a good wine, where you could take a lady.

They would have string quartets playing...that sort of thing....the one in town doesn't quite have the same ambience.

I went in there a couple of years back, it's clearly gone downhill, flea-pit, full of the dregs of the earth. I fitted in just perfectly.

This thread will do. Any one have any recommendations for pubs near the train station for the 26th?

No idea on what home or away pubs are. St Mary's is out of the way unfortunately.

If you walk an extra couple of minutes away from Yates' (and away from the ground) there are quite a few pubs/bars in Bedford Place.

But if you're just after a couple of pints as a pit stop before heading towards the ground to find somewhere to drink there is a pub next to the Mayflower Theatre (next to the station). Wouldn't 'recommend' it though but I expect a few people will start off there.

Got anything good going on in April, Mex? I'm down for the other half's graduation on the 16th or something...

Couldn't get into most clubs in Brighton if you didn't have your driving licence a few years back. Not sure if it's still the same.

I remember the time they wouldn't let you into a certain Chippenham nightspot if you said you were from Calne  Sad

Due to no impending births (that I'm aware of), I'm free to go to Southampton this year.

I will be there without doubt. My last weekend in England before I move to Germany for the forseeable future. Looking forward to it.
