Think Cox went for £1.5m rising to £1.9m.
As to why Austin is worth more; - two years younger - on a longer contract - higher goal ratio (Austin 0.57 vs Cox 0.42) - he's a better all round player - more potential (only been full time for one year, Cox has been full time since he was 16)
Hahaha. Austin an all round better player than Cox. Hahaha.

Good point.
DMR, how about you share your wisdom and explain what makes Cox a better all round player than Austin.

I'll have a go at that,
Cox scored 29 goals in a struggling team, and demonstrated his ability to score from long range and close in.
Austin appears to work harder across the pitch closing down the opposition.
Both players have a tendency for unneccesary bookings
Austin is better in the air, Cox better running at people
Cox appears to have greater pace, although Austin finds space in the box more easily
Austin needs to develop further (as he will as he faces better defenders and teams) before we can make a true comparison.
We've been lucky to have them both as players in recent times.
My conclusion is that it's a close run thing.

Better touch, more pace (although niether are quick), better finisher, better workrate, better vision, better at making space for himself, better at making space for others... just generally more talent... look at some of the goals Cox scored for us, goals you'd never see Charlie score (Fenerbache and Walsall spring to mind).

I have to agree with DMR on this one, Cox was a much better all round player, but Charlie is a natural goalscorer and his all round play has improved hugely since he signed for us.
Charlie will get even better in time.
Now a Cox/Austin pairing up front would be nice to see!
