Someone who I used to work with in Oxford, and am still in touch with, was mates with this prick since their school days, but he got sick of him eventually & stopped returning his calls etc because he was such an arrogant & unpleasant cunt to be around. He used to shout at taxi drivers "How does it feel to have a million-pound footballer in your taxi? I bet it's the highlight of your sad life." He always said he'll be in trouble when he stops playing football, basically because he never properly grew up & always saw himself as being a superior being to everyone else. He was quite sure that it would hit him like a mallet to the head - and look what happened.

One of the comments below that article goes hand in hand with what my mate used to say, ie what a prize arsehole he was to people when he was out drinking. He pranced about like a little fairy on the pitch, but away from football he was an aggressive drunken oaf.

Strange that Gazza does the same but i wouldnt wish him any harm..just because he fucked us about nearly 20 years ago makes me think we should move on...surely ware above all that shit.

No, it's a classic case of a male human being hitting rock bottom.

Hate him all you like on a football level. On a personal level this is tragic, and many of the comments in here are shamefull

Do you mean me, leefer? Because if I gave the impression that I'm happy about it, I didn't mean to. I'm just recounting what I know from the personal experience of a mate of mine, who knew him well.

I can understand why people feel the way they do....its just i dont feel that way.
I mean would people feel the same about Mooney, perhaps they would, not really that bothered about him as he has had a life many of us can only dream about..but i certainly dont wish him any illwill and hope he gets himself sorted.

He was a cock to STFC, and he was a cock as a human-being, but that said, I'm glad that he seems to be over his depression.

Some of the posts on this thread make me uneasy. I hope he stages a full recovery. He's clearly had some severe issues that aren't to be mocked.

He is the biggest cunt ever to wear a Swindon shirt. When that fuckface scored aganist us and kissed the wankstain that masquerades as a badge my blood pressure went off the scale. To be totally honest I couldn't give a fuck if he's been depressed or not and whether he's recovered or not. I'm normally sympathetic to such things but not for this shitstabber.

A town fan beating up one of our own players ?

Bollocks. (either the story, or the fact it was a fan)
