This seems to be coming together now.  I'd say ten of the starting XI for the first game are signed up:

Lucas

Amankwaah
Greer
Cuthbert
Rose

McGovern
Douglas
Prutton
?

Pericard
Austin.

Hopefully none of them leave unless someone offers, in the parlance, "silly money".  That looks like quite a tasty team to me.

Greer suspended for first game.

Greer suspended for first game.

And the second.

Greer suspended for first game.

Very good point.  LJF to fill in then.  The point still stands though, that a very strong first XI is emerging for the season.

I think we need a player or two on the bench who can come on and influence the game. Last season, who did we have? Easton, Timlin, O'Brien, Nouble, Pericard?? None of these from what I can remember spurred us on to get a win from a draw and change the last 15-20mins of a game.

I'm hoping for more from O'Brien and Pericard this year, and I think Wilson knows that he'll have to get more from them than he did last year for us to be challenging. Maybe a decent pre-season will be what is needed to get the best out of them. I'm sure we will also see a left-sided player and a striker coming in soon enough. Whether they will be in the first team or there to provide competition remains to be seen.

we need a proper replacement for paynter.pericard isn't suddenly going to become prolific infront of goal.

Pericard last year reminds me of Paynter 2 years ago. I really feel Pericard can step up, and have been convinced he can by my Carlisle supporting mate.

I'm not sure we need Pericard to replace all of Paynter's goals.  As long as he can get around the 15 goal mark, and a fair few assists, that'd be a great return in my opinion.  The key for me is getting more goals from the midfield.

Any ideas who's likely to be the penalty taker as that helped bump up Paynter's tally last season quite considerably?

Got to be Charlie surely! He has a pretty good penalty taking record by all accounts.
