I suggested safe standing areas to be considered in the stadium redevelopment.

ditto! the club could really become a forerunner and innovator if they looked at it properly. a lot of places in europe are all-seater with a small but significant section left for standing, why not here? surely it'd be safer than standing in normal seating areas (particularly luton's away end for instance)

The main reason it's not happened here is the law. However, if a club such as ourselves were to seroiusly consider the idea and bring the proposals before parliament, I'm sure groups like FSF would back us, provding valuable input and support. The main issue would be the costs of such action I'd imagine.

the law hasn't been challenged though, has it? iirc it was bought in as a result of the taylor report following the hillsbrough disaster. i think a precedent has been set on the continent that could be used.

has anyone been to a ground in europe which has safe standing or some form of terracing still?

sorry, should have specified that i meant a new/redeveloped ground that had retained some terracing or standing areas.

How do "safe standing" areas differ from non" safe standing" areas?

Asides from being safer that is.

I have. Boavista's ground. Works a treat. You still have a ticket/seat but can stand as there are railings.

safe standing will only work if people stand in their allocated space.judging by what happened at fulham i dont think fans can be trusted to act sensibly.
