dont see no problem with it, if it were STFC i may be bothered but who cares who manages a team that means nothing to me. Women ref's on the other hand....thats another kettle of fish.

Hope Powell is one of the most respected coaches around. It would be interesting and let us be honest, she'd be 100x better than Mike Newell if the Grimsby players respect her. I imagine being replaced by a woman coach would make Newell boarderline suicidal.

I can't see it working out. Not because she lacks in the skills and experience to do the job, because she is clearly a very good coach. I just think that the Grimsby players won't like being told what to do by a woman.

Arent exactly going to be able to attract players unless they pay massive wages, who is going tow ant to be told what to do by a woman, however wrong that is, thats the reality.

Maybe a problem before and after the games though in the changing rooms with the guys getting changed getting in the baths etc, not sure how female ref's or line person's get on if they are happy to get changed in front of their male colleagues or insist on their own area

Powell says she has had no contact with Grimsby, so I guess we'll never know.

Fucking hell, the world's gone mad!
Next thing you know footballers will be acting all poncey and hugging and kissing each other when a goal's scored, or rolloing around on the ground like a big girl if they get tackled too hard.
Oh, wait a minute........

it's be interesting. Although if things were slow to get going the fans would be on her back straight away. She'\s a great coach, though. England's womens' team and the under-19s are among the best teams in the world.
