Is that the line about not doing as you're told? I like the fact that people have done as they were told and bought Rage Against the Machine, in protest at being told what to do.
Well no one could find a song with the line... "why dont we start a small light hearted campaign to try and stop the Cowell juggernaut from monopolising the xmas no1 year after year with another dose of sentimental vacuous drivel, thus once again opening the platform to other other genuine artists to fairly contest the coveted spot..." so rage had to do..

Genuine artists? Have you looked at who has held the Christmas number one spot in previous years? Bob The Builder, Mr Blobby. I don't know where this myth that the Christmas number one is some top prize. It's always been dominated by complete shite. Cowell hasn't changed anything.

Christmas No1 used to be a huge prize in the music industry, in fact still is, which is why Cowell chooses to finish his program conveniently just before it.
Admittedly there has been some absolute shite in recent years, and there have also been some good tunes... but the main point is, at least there has been some element of competition.

To be fair, Mr Blobby was a much better song than the take that song it was up against it and deserved it's no.1.

I don't understand all this Cowell stuff.
Arn't Rage signed onto his Label (or part of it), so, if anything, the battle between two of his acts/songs has only really made him more money.
No wonder he phoned the couple up and thanked them. Nearly a million records of his sold in a week, that's a nice income for Christmas isn't it.

No, of course they aren't signed to his label and no it won't have made him more money, although that wasn't the point anyway.

X Factor's intro music is a re-working of Led Zep's 1975 song, Kashmir, which was recorded for the soundtrack of the film Godzilla by Puff Daddy and, wait for it, Tom Morello of RATM. Coincidence?

What might have saved this whole episode from being so ridiculously cringeworthy is if they'd used a new song..
I'm gonna buy a trowel do do do And dig a hole do do do For Simon Cowell do do do And Cheryl Cole do do do Danni Minogue do do do And Louis Walsh do do do He's a cock do do do And her tits are false do do do.
This shit just writes itself.
If anyone wants to start a campaign to get me to number one that'd be great. Just think, you too could become something you claim to hate.
