Very very sad

How the hell are those poor families going to cope for 4 months ?

AND they have prohibited them from looking for alternative work

At least on saturday night swindon will be deluged with Taxi Drivers!

On a serious note, it's a shame but I know that a lot of Honda workers have already seeked out other work or taking the severancy money. If they are waiting to see what happens with their job then they either don't need the money or are a bit silly.

don't they get 80% pay though? It's a bit harsh that they're not allowed to find work during that time.

Not good.

How can they prohibit them from looking for another job?

Although still not good, i think with other payments over the period it works out at 60% pay. Wasn't aware of the 'no other work' rule though

Fuck me it's not that bad Fred...I used to talk to my late father about the great depression of the 30's....which basically spanned the decade and brought about WW2, followed by years of austerity, until the late 50's.

You get on with it make the most of what you have and cut your cloth according to your means. In this case make the most of being time rich if not dosh rich...

With all due respect Reg, that's not much consolation to those who are feeling it now.

Bad times indeed then! They've extended the voluntary redundancy window by a bit - anyone would think they wanted people to leave...!

Fuck 'em...I if I was in their situation and I wanted (or even NEEDED) to work to make up the shortfall, I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't be able to stop me legally.  Temping job it would be then.

I'd say JONNY REEVES might... dont know of any others. Which is strange considering it's a major employer.
