I didn't feel safe from getting the chop before the recession and even less so now.

Unfortunately my firm could get rid of me without a redundancy package if they wanted to as I have invoked one condition of my contract which would allow them to say I'd underperformed. I guess the only bonus if that happened would be I won't have to pay the £3000 training costs back that I would have to if I simply moved jobs.

Si, you could check out CABA if you get made redundant.  Think they're quite busy at the moment.

Haha, one minute you're touting it about the next you won't discuss it. Cock.

Wind your neck in you clueless little prick. I won't post the detail on open forum due to the sensitive nature of the business I work in. Anyone interested can PM me.

Can't help but think some of you are being a bit naive though saying your job/company is safe, you've only got to look at some of the casualities that seemed to collapse out of the blue and usually those directly affected will be the last to know. Don't think anyone is 100% secure at the moment.

Dave I don't think you're really comprehending exactly what some may mean by secure.  Personally I feel secure, my directors have confirmed that financially our company is very financially secure.  Of course, having said that, they could let me go at any time, but with the length of service I have I'd walk out of here with a very attractive redundancy cheque.  Meaning that I could use that to support myself for the next year or two.  Therefore, security wise, I feel a lot more secure, financially, than others may do at this time.  That's my logic/thinking anyway.

10 this year (10 days extra holiday this year - hurrah), but I'm on the old redundancy basis, a month per year, plus 3 months.  And now my salary's a lot healthier these days, if the worst happened, and I had to tighten the belt, I'd get buy for sometime on that kind of pay out.  Especially as I'm not a proud man, I'd do most jobs to continue earning (to supplement my income).

That's what my step-dad got when he was made redundant from Zurich a few years back. He had 15 years service so had a very healthy redundancy package.

I was in line for redundancy a few years ago, gutted when I didn't get it, as I wasn't enjoying my role at that time.  But now I'm on a decent job, I've learned a lot in the last 3 years (which is transferrable to other company's) so things are looking a lot brighter.

As GFM had said I've probably jinxed myself now!

Two or three years ago it use to be the golden ticket to be made redundant with the service you have given your present employer, but now, keep what you have Jan, things are going to get so much worse and changing jobs for another supplier well those jobs are going to disappear as others tighten their belts.

On a personal note, I've lost a fucking fortune in the last nine months and now have to think about taking employment again, thought I was safe to live on what I had saved and what I had invested.

Happy Fucking New Year Britain.
