I'm tempted to put some money on George Graham for the Swindon job, at 20/1 it looks a good price. I haven't heard much about him and management recently, but he was desperate for a job the last I heard.
Anyone heard anything about him recently?
Yes, I heard him on the radio (5Live I think) saying he wouldn't be interested in a job outside the top 4! So I'd keep your money if I were you.

Mirror and Mail both reporting today we've approached Orient to speak to Ling. But I think it's the same sauce (PA) as both reports are more or less identical. So only counts as one really. And it's the nationals reporting on lower league happenings so is by definition wrong. So probably means Ling's out of the running all together

Mind you Graham fits the profile.  I don't think you can get any more dour and Scotch than that.

You being serious? If so, what planet is he living on?

If I was Fitton I'd have to think long and hard as to whether he would be worth the risk. A Premiership chairman would just laugh if he bothered applying for a job with them.

Sounds like he wants the job if it's offered to him.

He's having a go at the native Americans now.

Stereotyping is a form of racism in this context.

Ooooh, you racialist! You don't call them 'Native Americans' any more, you're supposed to refer to them as 'red skins' or 'injuns'.

The ignorance of some people Roll Eyes

Just for reference, if you happen to meet one individually, it is good manners to address them as 'Chief' (if you were at a black tie event for example or 'Hiawatha' if it's a more informal occasion.)

"I will say the same thing as I said earlier in the week, Swindon Town know where I am if they want to speak to me."

translates as "Come and get me boys, PLEASE come and get me!"

This has gone on so long now (and looks set to continue a while longer) that I think it will be a bit ant-climatic whoever gets the job.

I have to say though, with all due respect to the bloke because I do quite like him, after all this massive ho ha, it would be a right kick in the nuts if they just ended up appointing David Byrne Roll Eyes

Well we wouldn't have spoken to Ling if we haven't agreed compo with Orient otherwise we'd have been tapping up.

Well quite. Thought that when I heard it, the interviewer said would he be interested in getting back into management and he said (to the effect of) probably not, ooh maybe for a top four side, not for a mid-table side though (ie mid-table in the Prem). To which I thought "You'd be so lucky to be asked, mate". I'd also like to declare that I'm not interested in becoming manager of any small-time Premiership sides, it's big four or nothing.

And come to that should any countries be looking for Prime Ministers/Presidents etc, I'm strictly G8 or nothing. None of your half-baked Mediterranean coastal states, or your non-US American minor countries or any of that nonsense. So don't even bother asking Spain, Italy and Canada. Because I'm not interested. Just so we're clear

On account of being out of the game for so long, George Graham has become a bit of a 'yesterday's man'...a modern day Ron Atkinson if you will.

He probably said top 4 because he's earned enough not to bother with the hassle of managing a team on a hiding to nothing.

So looks like it is Calderwood...Alardyce backing out slowed the process down but it looks set to happen. As I said
