Me and some mate were poviding the disco for a mates wedding.  We all went of to sleep n the marquee pissed up haing heard something about a crash but a bit hazy to say the least.
Next morning we went over to the bridesfathers house who was making bacon sarnies for breakfast on a barbecue.
As he got us some sarnies he said in a very sincere voice, 'Oh and have you heard the sad news? Princess Diana died in a car crash last night.

My mates reponse, 'Bang goes my chance of shagging a royal.'

We left quite quickly.

I remember waking up to Radio 1 and wondering what on earth they were playing (hard to explain it, sort of chilled out music with no singing is the best i can get at), it took half an hour for the news to come on and explain everything.

Best Diana rumour I heard was that she did a bit with denim-clad, ginger-haired Canadian rocker Bryan Adams.

She was putting it about quite a bit towards the end wasn't she.

It was a crazy time of optimism, what with the scummy tory governmnet out the way and then that silly bitch dead.

Of course it's strange now as the tories will win the next election and Zombie Diana  rules over us with the cold undead hand of fear from her giant moon castle.

They played a loop tape of chill out stuff, including the wonderful One Last Stand by The Aloof.  Worth seeking the album if thats your type of thing.

I had to do an extra paper round to deliver a special edition of the Adver. That pissed me right off.

I don't get why she was revered so much. She was a bit of a slut, a bad mum for buggering off to hug some kids with AIDS all the time, and has quite obviously lied about who sired Harry.

I was in Florida too, I swear every channel had it on. No one seemed too bothered at Disneyland though haha.

I went to Brands Hatch the Sunday after the funeral for BTCC (the Saturday got cancelled out of respect!?!). So the grid for the first race was decided by the quickest lap in the morning practise and the grid for the second was decided by the fastest lap times in the first race. It made a pretty mental grid for the second race so it worked out pretty well that people were going mental over Diana.

Small world, i was there too!
