Be aware, NO SATURDAY ON THE DAY TICKETS WILL BE SOLD. Late notice or what. Muppets.

Quote
NO ON THE DAY SATURDAY TICKETS

Anyone planning to attend the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Saturday, July 12, must buy their tickets in advance.

Organisers announced today that tickets will not be on sale at the Fairford gates on Saturday, July 12.

However, tickets are still available for both Saturday and Sunday from Ticketmaster as well as from selected branches of Barclays Bank, Robert Dyas and a number of Tourist Information Centres.

Air Tattoo spokesman Richard Arquati said buoyant ticket sales prompted the decision.

“We want to make sure that everyone who plans to come on Saturday has the chance to buy a ticket, but it is important to make sure we are ready and able to cope with the traffic.

We introduced day-specific tickets this year for the first time in order that we could monitor ticket sales. It is as a result of this monitoring that the decision not to sell on-the-day tickets on Saturday has been taken.”

“Our advice is: if you want to come to the Air Tattoo, buy now or come on Sunday when tickets should also be on sale at the gate.”

Other than that the Vulcan, F22 and A380 (A380 Sat only) should be worth seeing.

Enjoy the traffic queues.

I know a good little lane down South Cerney way where you can quite happily sit and watch the planes without paying for a ticket.

i'm glad the vulcan is back in the air, my uncle used to fly in them, he was the navigator, his house is covered in vulcan memorabilia. i do wanna go this year, but really dont fancy paying 32 quid for the privelege.

Yes it is rather pricey Samdy. I'm taking the little one along so I doubt he'd sit and watch the planes for too long from free view lane.

That's pretty interesting Leggett, you should get him signed up and online over at

The forums there are Vulcan club members only, but there is a "former crew" section for posting their memories/stories, etc.

To be honest, if the Vulcan wasn't going to RIAT, neither would I.

Going from Swindon? Trouble is, not sure which roads are open and which are "access only" (residents pass required).

Personally, if the weather forecast is accurate, I'm going Sunday and will leave early (e.g. 7am). Yes there is a lot of hanging around when you arrive. Better that than get stuck in traffic until 1pm like some poor sods last year.

The advice on another forum that was given to somebody coming up from Bristol, so I am not sure if it is your quickest route is:

Best route would be M5 J11a (Huh?, the A419 turnoff), go to "air balloon" roundabout (top of hill) and follow signs.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

I saw the rehearsal for that on Tuesday. I wasn't all that impressed, but knowing nothing about planes probably didn't help. Also, some of the sections weren't there, Red Arrows etc. One of the planes looked to be refuelling mid-air, which was quite cool.

BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I've had to refuse a complimentary ticket (x2) for Sunday. So instead of being wined and dined, I'll be at home painting.

Have fun folks.
