Yeovil I think that may have been due to the fact centre court was infiltrated by a bunch of Aussies.  A classic sign of a rabble of australians is the singing of "let's go "enter name here", let's go!!"

You can't really blame the Aussies. The lame attempts at footy style chanting, generating a horribly cheesy and fake atmosphere, has been a consistent part of watching the British representative at Wimbledon for years now. It's cringe worthy.

I think the title of the thread needs to lose the now. Maybe change it to a then.

Although I don't blame the Australian general public for former years, I do believe a certain element of the Australian people can be balmed for yesterday's atmosphere Ben.  There were loads there watching Hewitt lose, then they got behind Murray during his match.  The let's go (whoever) let's go, is a chant often used by those lovable Aussies!!

But there would have been shit chants whatever. With or without the Australian influence, which didn't make it any more or less rubbish. "Let's go..." isn't any worse than "Murrayyy (clap, clap, clap)" or any of the other horrible bollocks.

I watched the Japan World Cup whilst in Australia. The Aussies are generally shit at chanting.

But everyone is shit at chanting at tennis matches. It always seems to me to be a bit like fan chants at Womens football and (field)  hockey,

Could be worse though. The threat of a Cliff Richard sing along has thus far kept me from Wimbledon far more than any gay chanting.

There should be a holocaust of people who've shouted a variation of "Come on Tim/whoever" at a tennis match. Seriously all dead. In nasty ways with gas and experiments and stuff.

My hatred for such thinks is no longer rational.

Murray's great.  When he wins, he's British.  As soon as he loses he's Scottish.

I went once, years ago, twas ok, but unless there was a brit on centre court doing well I don't think it ranks up there as a great day out.

To be fair that's usually aimed at the press that comment and it's such a load of rubbish.  Despite what my Scottish brothers and sisters say, the media don't call Scots British when winning and Scottish when they lose.

I tend to keep a close eye on these things, but the media on the whole have labelled the lad Scottish from day one.  They sometimes call him the British No.1  but what else can they do, he is.

Not a rant aimed at you there Donker.

No worries, jan.  It was meant in jest, but many a true word said in jest after all.

I can understand the frustration of Scots seeing the English cheering on Murray as one of their own, however as he represents GB then they are entitled to, as are the Welsh.  Anyways, I've got a lot of time for the Scots, married one after all (and have drunk copious amounts of the father in law's whisky).

I could see it was meant in jest mate, if anything I was having a slight dig at the Scots who always say that.  Don't think anyone's pissed off with english people getting behind Murray, what I don't like is the agro he seems to get for being honest about the way he feels about england's football team.

Who cares if he doesn't like to see them win?

So predictions for today?  I'll go blindly optimistic Nadal goes one set up and a break, then he hurts his dodgy knee sending Andy through.

No injury?  Then 3-1 Nadal.  Can't see Murray handling Nadal.

Nadal will win easily. He's too good for anyone at the moment even Federer.
