Really can’t see the Kelly rumours being true. If he is training with us it’s Just for fitness. If we are dragging our feet with Grant (assume wages) no chance with Kelly. Especially as we are under embargo. Next rumour pleases

Can’t see how wages can be an issue if we’ve already signed Gladwin and Odimayo.

Interestingly I don’t think you are alone in thinking that.

I think you would be very surprised how little Gladwin was on at Franchise and Odimayo last season was very cheap as a released youth team player. I don't expect either of them to be on big wages now either.

Fair enough, doesn’t translate into hard numbers though does it? I know with good authority what one of the players at a non league team not a million miles from Swindon is on, so to me £1200 does seem rather low. But, I don’t negotiate players wages so mine and I expect Audreys thought processes align that the quoted figure does seem rather low, cheap even?

For what it’s worth, I was told yesterday that the club may have told a little porky pie about what we can offer wages wise. We’ve supposedly said it was low publically as it basically stops agents and players demanding more if they think there is no way we can.
There is a restriction, but not quite as low as is being made out.

Maybe it’s an overall cap and not an individual amount.
Is there a wage cap for clubs any more or has that been ditched along with squad size?

Which does make some sense.

I guess he would've worked with Marshall at Reading? So it could be plausible that he is here just training with someone he knows. I could see him getting a gig in League One.

I think Rob Angus said the limit for the playing budget is 50% of projected turnover, but happy to be corrected if wrong.

So if a lucrative contract was the reason for his demise, I'm sure we could offer him peanuts to motivate him! Interesting to see that he is best when there is time on the ball playing as a quarterback infront of a back 4, but when playing further up the pitch was criticised for playing too many safe balls and not creating anything. Nice article.

Does anyone know any info on the restrictions being lifted? Do you think we could be keeping that one going so agents/players don't ask for too much? Then announce after the transfer window that the embargo is lifted?
