sauce?

It's true.... after we signed Brodbent Sid was always unlikely, as presumably it would have meant a fee, and Wellens wants to use his remaining loan elsewhere, if at all.

I liked the lad, but fuck me you’d have thought he was John Terry the way some of our fans go on.

Based on what I saw on Saturday, Broadbent looks a more than capable replacement for Sid anyway.

Its a shame, as he was clearly a fans favourite due to his style of play (I think if you threw a brick up in the air he would try and head it) but I would rather have got a winger/striker in than Sid.

I never loved him anyway.

I think part of it was the passion he showed in a Swindon shirt. I can still remember the away game at Crawley earlier this season when we played the second half with 9 men and held out until 99 minutes that the guy was absolutely gutted at the end of the match. You don't often see that kind of commitment or desire from a loanee.

Seasons dead anyway. At least we'll get him for free in the summer and hopefully get someone else in in the next few days.

Is that because the bulk of our loanees recently have been about 12 and from big clubs with no danger of staying here beyond the loan period and probably earning most than our senior pro's? I get the impression with Nelson that he liked the place and realised he was playing for his career almost, poor bugger, Birkenhead is going to be a right shock to the system.

Bamboo has some right explaining to do  Hmmm

Not sure how that pans out. Broadbent looks a good asset and I think that with Sid (if he had been bought as well) could have been a pretty rugged pairing which as we all know counts for a hell of a lot in this Division. Now we have the possibility of three loans in our back four (if Carroll stays as RB) which to my mind does not help building a squad. Quite happy to be proved wrong but it does point to quite where we are in the footballing hierarchy.

However we know from previous this is how it will be.... one out, one in, told we need experience, and then get some more loan kids in.  It is where we are, but with some astute management, it is still poosible to have a decent season in Div 4, as most of the opposition will not be in much different shape.

Guessing there was a loan fee or the % of wages took us out of the picture. Wellens did say we needed to shift a couple. At least we havent got to play them again.

Or, Wellens didn’t want to waste our last loan spot on a centre back, like he said.

Yep, seems to me that we would have been keen to take on a perm, but Millwall were dragging a bit so we moved for Broadbent instead.  if they'd been willing to work on a perm deal, then he;d have still come, ut he made it clear he wasn't keen on another loan player there.
