When we were linked with Ajose, I can vaguely recall Power using similar terminology before announcing his arrival. I reckon Power thought Turnbull was in the bag at the time of last weeks quote.
Not that it makes much difference mind.
I also read a quote from Power that Turnbull may not be the type of centre back they are looking for!! FFS any centre back will do!!!

Yeah, quite possibly. I immediately thought of Power's comment when the Coventry move was confirmed.

I wonder how much the undisclosed fee was?
Given Power has proved he will invest in a player if he thinks he can make a return and he was prepared to invest and estimated 400k in a GK it makes me wonder just how much Coventry actually paid.
Either it was too much and Power doubted the return he would get. We matched it and Turnbull turned us down in favour of Coventry for money or for progress (possible given Coventry long term may be better than a team who constantly sell all their best players). Or possibly we think there is a better option out there?

I guess we may get a better idea of what happened come August 31st. If we end up signing another highly-rated Defender, that'd be it. If we don't... it may be more that we didn't bid high enough.

Turnbull is getting higher wages at Coventry than what Swindon offered.

I would find it amusing if Mors head applied for the vacant press officer position even as a joke.

So he turned us down because Power didn't see fit to pay a footballer footballer's wages? I don't want to get frustrated about Power's transfer work, but things like this really don't make sense. He says we need experienced heads, then doesn't actually action it.

Well it must be less than 30 quid a week obviously, so say about 27 quid?

If Palace could hurry up and sign a fucking striker we can have Anderson.
Williams confirms on BBC Wilts we have offered a contract to Delfouneso. Surely that's the Anderson deal dead if we add him to Obika, Norris, Young, Stewart, Goddard and Hylton who can play up front?

You can't expect Hylton to be around for much longer.

True.
And I've just seen the Williams quotes about there being another striker target in addition to Delfouneso, so maybe the Anderson deal is still on.
