As all the hubcaps on the cars in the street are still in place, I take it the 3 scousers are yet to arrive.
Are they actually coming, no comment from the club - as usual!!

It would be nice if Scouse three were there in time for Everton. If it is the same bunch as played at Supermarine it is going to be something of a mismatch.

Mildenhall did it for us didn't he?
Super Sammy did as well....Austin too.... What I don't understand is why we wait till players can be approached by other clubs to discuss contract extensions. If we had offered Wes and Williams new deal last summer before they got into their last year would they still be here? I appreciate wages (and they're from the Di Canio era) might be a factor but I don't understand why we let our best players contracts run down.

But why jeopardise your own chances of a move (as a free, obviously they're far more likely to get a decent transfer) and a nice signing on bonus by signing a new contract?

dv, simple answer - wes and Williams were on pdc era contracts ; something the club can't afford even if from a wage structure point of view rather than a 'not enough cash' one (in that we are at break even when we had them, so keeping them wouldn't necessarily be unaffordable. though I think season tickets are down so maybe not).
besides which, wes really needed a step up in career

and FWIW I think Williams peaked last season. Still a pretty good player to have around but I think we got him at his best.

But is it really a step for Wes? Yes, he's gone to a big, big club, but is he really going to improve his game by playing against Conference-like teams in the Scottish Championship? Not for me he isn't.

I imagine Wes is thinking a little longer term. In the short term, he gets to play in front of huge crowds, but it's not inconceivable that Rangers could be playing in Europe in 2-3 years. With the best will in the world, that doesn't apply to Birmingham, Barnsley or us.

More likely getting knocked out in the preliminary rounds of the CL by some Danish outfit nobody has heard of.
He will disappear off the radar at Rangers I'm afraid

Sandy Turnbull scored the winning goal for Man U, in the 1909 FA Cup final against the old Slavers FC.
