He's also been on the Charlton site saying the same sort of thing.

I guess the kids have broken up.

Yinka Casal

D.C. United acquired Casal via discovery and signed him to a senior contract on February 2, 2007. He had been the leading scorer for Fulham F.C.'s reserve squad for the 2005-06 season. Casal was off to a flying start and after appearing in 11 matches in all competition, and getting 1 goal and seven assists, Casal asked for release forms so he can go back and play in Europe on July 2, 2007. He then signed for Dutch club Cambuur Leeuwarden.

In February 2008 Debreceni VSC made a bid of €70'000, but Cambuur Leeuwarden rejected the offer and said he won't leave for less than €100'000. June 2008 a bid of €85'000 from Újpest FC was accepted by Cambuur Leeuwarden, but the deal fell through at the end.

On August 6th 2008 Casal signed for Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee, turning down offers to play in the Hungarian Premier Division and Italy.  In June of 2009 Casal was being linked with Fray Bentos.

My grampy used to tell me an anecdote along similar lines. Apparently Arthur Horsefield had been playing particularly well (or he was a good player, I'm not sure, something along those lines) and someone informed my gramps that Juventus were interested in acquiring Horsefield - to which my grandfather replied, in his delightfully thick Wiltshire accent, "Joo-ventos? More like Fray-Bentos!".

My biggest regret at my grandfather's passing a few years ago was that I hadn't yet begun to follow Swindon away, and wasn't even a season ticket holder. Just imagine the quality stories and punchlines I would've acquired when discussing various Swindon Town-related adventures to Scunthorpe, Carlisle and Birkenhead!

Yinka signing for Fray Bentos would be pie in the sky.

Years ago in a six-a-side tournament in Swindon, a team entered as "Sixlike Horsefield".

Also years ago, during a home game a thick Wiltshire accent was heard "Horsefield, you're slower than a carthorse in labour".  I wonder if your Grampy was at the game.

Arthur was a decent defender, after leaving Swindon for Charlton.  His striking partner, Peter Noble was utter class at right back,....... and in midfield........... and as a striker after leaving Swindon for Burnley, while also getting his name in the Trivial Pursuit game.  Noble went for forty thousand quid should have been four hundred thousand (I recall during MotD, the commentators saying that Noble should be in the England squad at right-back).  I think Arthur went on a free.

If anyone (and I mean anyone) is willing to take Casal off our hands i'd snap their hands off straight away. Sadly it looks as if even Oxford aren't that stupid. Maybe we should offer him to them?

I remember Peter Noble coming on as a substitute on his debut in 1968 and some guy shouting "Christ, he's bought a bloody rabbit !"

He was odd looking, but what a player. He scored two at QPR a couple of years later when we won 4-2, and I thought he was as good a striker as I'd ever seen.

His name has returned. Somebody really wants the Özbaş thing to come true.

That was Reg's third year as a season ticket holder wasn't it?
