Political unrest, press censorship, troop movements and most notably the military giving the vote of confidence: "There will be no Coup".

Oh, and threads on this subject have been erased from local forums today.

I wonder what odds you could get at the bookies on yet another coup (Gambling is illegal out here)

I think it's actually a "Blow of[at] the State" as in a blow like a punch, so yes you're about right. As opposed to "coup de grace" which means to mow the lawn

When the last one happened (Last year), I knew nothing about it until my Nan called me from England to ask if I was OK. I knew nowt about about until then. That was all very "Peaceful" though as the vast majority of Bangkokians, Bangkokietes, whatever welcomed it and not a shot was fired (At least not in public).

If things get a bit hairy then I have it planned out already:

1) Stock up on beer, food and sundries.
2) Don't go out
3) Play FM 2008.
