Try www.skyscanner.net.  Gives a bar graph view of (say) a month so its easy to see when the cheapest days are.

That site's brilliant. good work that man!

I'm off to Sweden Saturday for a week to visit friends and got return tickets through BA for 70 quid including all the taxes so booked with them as I can fly from Heathrow and it lands near where my friends live.

Saying that I'd use Ryan Air or Easy Jet if costs were much cheaper or convienient but thought that was a good deal.

Whichever airline you go for, I think it's just best to book up as early as possible to get the best price.

I've done Gatwick to Newcastle with BA a few times over the last year or so (booked about a month in advance) for about £80 return inc. taxes. The same flights were going for £120+ one way about a week before departure.

Easyjet are ok.  I flew to Aberdeen from Luton but got stuck in a seat in between 2 fat men who kept saying "these seats are ok if we were your size but they're not for fat bastards like us".  Anyway, turned out they knew each other and chatting all the way about their lives.  It was like a scene from airplane with people around preparing to commit suicide.  I wouldnt wish that on anyone!
