Got an email today saying ryan air got a promo on, loads of flights for 99p (about 15 quid with tax) - thing is when I look for such flights, can't find em anywhere!!! Is there a tip to finsing these gems? Other than flying in the week?

Ryanair's a pile of shit.  Cheap yes, but you have to pay to book on non hand luggage.  You fly to the middle of nowhere, for example Oslo Torp is about a 2 hour drive from Oslo.  It'd be a little bit like calling an airport Lyneham - London.

Overall I reckon you're better off flying with a better airline, where you get a better service, free drinks and food and you can take luggage with you at no extra cost.

Cheap flights fro Ryanair are usually Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, Friday to Monday usually more pricey.

I'd agree with Jan on this one.

BA do some reasonable fares within Europe and service is superb.

Best bet is to fly on the national airline for example Air Berlin or wherever you're going as can be very very cheap.

I think you'd end up paying a little more in total but the flying experience and getting to your location would be more enjoyable.

The bus trip from Oslo Torp to Oslo was £25 by the way so that needs to be added on to the cost of the flight.

Ryanair is ace. I use it all the time when coming home, although 'London' Stansted is bloody miles away from anywhere...

20 quid for a return ticket is cheap as chips, and if you want to check in a bag then it's only an extra fiver. I usually just pack up a GIANT hand-luggage (up to 10kg) and don't worry about it. You can then check in online and stroll to the airport much later without the hassle of the queues.

I do hate the scrum for boardin though.

In fairness though, Ryanair are bloody handy if you want to go to Torp Wink

I have to say, I have flown with Ryanair quite a few times and I've found them to be ok. They get you to where you're going for not a lot of money.

But then another reason I like them is that I live fairly near Stansted. If I lived down Wiltshire way I might consider other options.

Tickets are cheapeast for the latest dates they offer and Tuesday and Thursday seem to be quite cheap.  It depends on the airport yuo leave from as well, Luton tends to be the cheapest I've found.  Very handy for the flights to Barcelona with Reus only being an hour away which is little different to most major airports.

They rack up the price the closer you get to the flight date.

I had return flights to Reus for £11.98 excluding tax.

Is the baggage thing a new one?  Not sure I've noticed that before, certainly not been charged at an airport.

I used to love BA until they started running their BA Connect 'no frills' service.

No food/tea/coffee unless you pay through the nose for horrible stale tat that is far worse than what they used to give away for free!

I'd rather suffer the mugs that are Easyjet and pay half the prcie than use BA connect again.

Still can't beat their usual service mind.

We use EasyJet quite often. Decent service, cheap, and they have a boarding system!!! Saves the usual scrum at the boarding gate.

Plus they fly to allsorts of places from London airports and Bristol

I like Monarch Airlines out of Luton, because if you ask the pilot nicely he'll throw any dodgy looking Muslims off the plane.

Try www.skyscanner.net.  Gives a bar graph view of (say) a month so its easy to see when the cheapest days are.
