I've always got the impression that the 60% rule is more of an excuse for the footy league to keep an eye on clubs and make sure that they ain't just getting themselves in as much debt as possible. If the club can show that they've got some financial backing, Ince will increase turnover and we ain't gonna go bust tomorrow leaving hundreds of creditors, I would have thought it would be ok.

With hartlepool it may have been the case that they were a long way over. who knows.

Plus there's the player-coach point that sonic made.

i also read somewhere that ince would only be looking to play 10-15 games, "just to keep fitness levels up".

it seems like we're paying a lot of money for an unproven coach, who just happens to be one of wise's mates - do we really need him?

gurney can still go, mind.

Do we really need HIM?! Yes, of course we do!! It's Paul Ince we're talking about, not Darren Bullock!!

Not surprised about the 60% issue given the stature of the fella but where there's a will there's a way. As you said, the turnover would hopefully improve given the short-term boost to shirt sales with his name on (mine included), plus the longer term aspect - increased bums on seats and commercial revenue that the sudden surge in fan optimism and club ambition will attract.

I don't think players will be sacrificed to fund Incey, although if someone was to go I'd have money on Whalley being paid off. High wages plus he's way down the pecking order of an already strong looking midfield quota. For my money, Fola looks a handy option and I'd imagine he's on peanuts at the moment, ditto Wells, and Pook. Gurns, for me, is Wisey's back-up option for Jack Smith once fit so perhaps wor th keeping him on, love him or hate him.

As I said the other night, isn't great we can even have these debates again! Devlin, Power et al, I salute you!! Cheesy

I think gurney and whalley are dead wood and could be up for the chop. i quite like CCP but i could see him being offloaded as hes not fantasticly liked by Wisey. Pook would make sense but id imagine hes on pittance compared.

dont think CCP is rated by Wise.

When we went up to Darlington we saw the team bus going away from the ground....with just CCP sat on it....I guess the other players not in the match day squad stayed at the game...

Fola hasn't even been offered a contract longer than three months yet has he?  How will that free up the wage bill?  Hes young, desperate for an opportunity and will probably settle for pittance if he stays.

Wasn't Gurney made "club captain" though? Whatever that means. Can't see Wise just getting rid of him like that

Considering Power, Devlin etc. are still injured from crash can we not be considered as exceptional circumstances considering they are the financial decision makers (and providers) of this club?

I doubt it.

I don't see why we can't send some players out on loan.
