I've just gone through the posts that the geezer who said the Ince stuff has posted. He doesn't look like a wind-up merchant to me.

Therefore, Ince will sign tomorrow, I will get a new away shirt with Ince and 4 on the back, and Bennett will spontaneously combust.

He's probably checking out the local night life with the other players. They're probably all out on the piss. This is a disgrace and is a clear sign that Wise has already lost the dressing room.

Seeing as its a midweek stay he obviously opted for the cheaper option. The restaurant at the Marriott isn't too bad.

Maybe we aren't gonna pay him as much as he'd like and he's tightening the purse-strings a little?

I once saw Pat Nevin there,  but he never signed.   And the entire squad of Real Oviedo nor did they.

A lot of our players get seen in the Apartment,  and Walkabout.

I don't think hotels etc  any longer have deals with STFC, because it tends to mean you wont get paid.

everyone is talking about if ince comes in and the effect he will have on the pitch but ive just been thinking how much he will bring in as a coach.

if you said last season that we would have ince, poyet and wise coaching and managing our players we would have laughed our arses off.

he should bring so many ideas from his time at man u and even defensive ideas from milan i would imagine.

even if its for this season then his experience will be invalueble

I bet it said "We are allowing Ince to train with us so he can see the faciities and  squad to help him try make his mind up"

Which means no further news

I think we all need to sit back and wait for a while.  All this talk is just making me more apprehensive.  My guess is he signs, plays on game, looks awful, and then all our hope would be for nothing.

Dennis Wise spoke to the media after training on Thursday and spoke about the latest news on a possible move for midfielder Paul Ince.

Ince trained with the club this morning, but while Wise is hopeful of a permanent move for the former Manchester United player, Town will wait for an answer from the player as to where his future is.

Dennis Wise talks to the press after training

"Incey has been in and trained this morning," commented Wise."He played in an eleven vs eleven situation in training and looks fit. He wanted to come down, take a look around and meet the other lads.

"We have spoken about things and discussed the financial aspect, but I will have another chat with him. We are friends and we need to see what we want from him, and what he expects of us.

"At this stage we are hopeful, of course we are. He likes what he sees but he has had a couple of other offers. Whether or not anything goes ahead is another matter, but we will have to be patient and see what progresses," said Wise.

Let him look around and meet everyone, spoke money, he's got 3 other offers and we will be patient.

I still don't have any issue with this because Wise isn't looking to increase the squad other than this deal, so it's not like he's worried or missing out on anyone in the meantime.

Also, Ince is obviously seriously considering coming here. If he was bothered about the club being in League 2 etc he wouldn't have visited.

Lets hope he didn't see Shakesy trying to cross the ball in the knowledge that he's a first team player.

Paul Ince might base his descision on total number of pages a team's football forum has of vague discussion about him and his transfer. I think we should keep up the debate and speculation just on the odd chance this is the case. You wouldn't want to read in the paper tomorrow that Ince has said he's decided to go to Peterborough because the Swindon fans gave up after writing 10 pages whilst those posh boys had managed 12. That would be a proper disaster and all you moaners would be responsible.

Point made.

Hehe .. yep. I was reading a book called My Favourite Year which is a Nick Horby-edited book of short stories charting a year in football per author. There's one in there by a City fan. Jesus. The arrogance in the writing shines through ... there's one section about them being in Division Four ... "We didn't deserve to be there". Bunch of cocks. The lot of them.

I reckon he must've been banking on the Wolves job, otherwise he definitely would've found a club so he could do a proper pre-season.

Paul Bodin was on the radio this morning and he said it now looks unlikely he will sign for us.
If he was going to, surely he would have done it by now as it is 3 days since he trained with us....who else is he going to try out?

I am still a bit optimistic though, hence the new avatar  8)

The way this is going we won't get a decision before the end of the season!!

Although I'm intrigued as to why he'd come and train again on Thursday if he wasn't planning to sign?  He's already been down for one training session - surely he would have got a decent idea of the club / players / set up etc?

Who needs him anyway - top of the league, we're having a laugh!!!  :beers:

Misplaced optimism Mr H - from the official website:-

Paul Ince is to return to Swindon for training on Thursday, with Dennis Wise expecting an answer later this week as to the midfielder's future.

Talking to the media after Saturday's victory at Darlington, Wise revealed that former England teammate Paul Ince is to return to the club for another training session on Thursday.

"Incey is coming training again next Thursday but I am sure we will know by Friday what his answer will be.

"The press got a sniff of it a little bit earlier than expected so it came out, but we would like to sign him and it would be nice to take him on board with us, whether he does or not we will have to wait and see."

Looks very clear to me that we'll know nothing certain before Friday, but keeps your hopes up for a press conference then. Come on Guvnor, you know you want to join the Wise revolution

Aparently Devlin and Power have pulled the plug on the possible move for the midfielder.  He told the WDP, "if you give Dennis an Ince, he'll take a mile"

I really hope all this is sorted out by tomorrow lunchtime, it's becoming a bit of an unwelcome distraction, although having said that at least it gives us something else to talk about rather than going on about our 100% record.

That's fair enough adje - and I agree that at this moment on the playing side of things, we're doing more than fine without him and wouldn't want him to walk into the side and disrupt our winning run (bar Brentford)!

However, the experience he will pass on to our younger players in training will be invaluable!  With Wise, Poyet and Ince passing on their pearls of wisdom, I think you'd see our young players (especially the midfielders) come on leaps and bounds!  :D

Agreed.

I dont see why the onrunning sage should be disruptive to the squad either. If anything it should act as a motivating factor to the likes of Pook & Holgate whos places in the 1st team squad are most at risk. Evidence of that on tuesday night perhaps when Ashan put in by far his best performce in an STFC shirt?

Hmmmmm. This has taken a new twist. Before I thought, no rush - if he comes then great. But the fact wise wants ANOTHER midfielder if he doesn't means there is more urgency given the deadline is 1 week away.

http://www.swindontownfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10341~887666,00.html

Dennis Wise spoke to the press at lunchtime and gave the latest news on the possible arrival of Paul Ince to The County Ground ranks.

Experienced former England midfielder Ince did not take part in training with Town on Thursday, although Wise is still hopeful that Swindon can add the Guv'nor to his squad.

"Incey couldn't come in due to personal reasons so that's why he wasn't with us today at training, but we are still hopeful that he will join us.

"I am hoping to speak to him later on but we will have to wait a little bit longer. If he doesn't join us then I would still be looking to bring in another midfielder," said Wise.

No. To help subsidise Wise's and Gus's wages the club have moved into the ptentially lucrative human trafficking market.

Poor Rodrigo was seen as something of a test case and is now working as a gigalo in london after being sold for Ł350.

Expect more south americans to follow.........

A lot of people are being unfair to Ince here. The bloke has told Wisey he had a family problem to deal with. As we don't know how serious this might be i think we should all stop saying stupid things like "Give Ince until Friday or withdraw the offer". A lot of people would value their family more important than a job, I know I would. Do you really think Ince would lose sleep if Wisey withdrew the offer? Plenty of other clubs would have him i'm sure. I know its dragging on a bit but i'm prepared to wait as long as it takes to get a player of his caliber to the club.

Looking good on the signing front - the only caveat on that was catching Wisey post-match saying that something has come up for him Tuesday... the way it was put it sounded like another interesting offer within football. That said, for a personality of his calibre I'd be willing to wait another fortnight if needs be!! OK, so it's not nice having to play the waiting game but signing Ince would be just as important for his off field presence - commercial, coaching, young player advice, attracting other players - as it would be for his return in midfield. Let's be honest, if I was a player of his stature dropping down to Lg.2 for anything other than a managerial position, I'd want to make damn sure it was the right move.

Just heard on Beeb Swindon that Ince will sign if the club can get around the 60% of turnover being spent on player's wages limit, which they currently are at.

So do we shoot Pook?

Surely there would be some kind of Death in Service payment i.e. 4 times his salary.  A lump sum payment payable to his nominated beneficiary therefore no further wages would be due.  As this is an insurance pay out it shouldn't count as an "income" pay out.  Problem solved, let's "delete" Pook.

Just listening to Wiltshire Sound now....

...Ince confirmed he wants to join.  Bob Holt says the 60% ratio a "big problem".  We have to approach the league to see what terms we need to satisfy to the requirement (the 60% limit).

Ince's term would push us over the limits.  Gonna take up to 72 hours to sort this out according to Holt.  Which means no Ince til Friday, at the earliest???

Is the 60% based on last seasons turnover figure?

If so I wonder if we can argue the point of increased attendances this season, which will take his salary under the cap.

If it is based on last seasons turnover have the accounts been published for that period and where do the league get the figures from?

But Fola has more to offer than Whalley I would have thought. Yes, I suppose it would be expensive to pay Whalley off but we are in a position to do it unlike last season and it would be worth it in the long run surely?

the 60% cap is for players' wages only from what i've read. i'm wondering whether the club will go to the football league explaining that ince is here as primarily a coach but will be registered as a player, as is the case with both wise and poyet.

i'd assume that non-playing staff wages - management/coaches right through to groundsmen and ticket office/club shop employees - do not play any part in the salary cap.

if this is the case, then ince could theoretically sign a 3 year deal as a coach - same as wise and poyet - but register as a player for this season, thus avoiding the salary cap and negating the need to offload anyone.

I've always got the impression that the 60% rule is more of an excuse for the footy league to keep an eye on clubs and make sure that they ain't just getting themselves in as much debt as possible. If the club can show that they've got some financial backing, Ince will increase turnover and we ain't gonna go bust tomorrow leaving hundreds of creditors, I would have thought it would be ok.

With hartlepool it may have been the case that they were a long way over. who knows.

Plus there's the player-coach point that sonic made.

Do we really need HIM?! Yes, of course we do!! It's Paul Ince we're talking about, not Darren Bullock!!

Not surprised about the 60% issue given the stature of the fella but where there's a will there's a way. As you said, the turnover would hopefully improve given the short-term boost to shirt sales with his name on (mine included), plus the longer term aspect - increased bums on seats and commercial revenue that the sudden surge in fan optimism and club ambition will attract.

I don't think players will be sacrificed to fund Incey, although if someone was to go I'd have money on Whalley being paid off. High wages plus he's way down the pecking order of an already strong looking midfield quota. For my money, Fola looks a handy option and I'd imagine he's on peanuts at the moment, ditto Wells, and Pook. Gurns, for me, is Wisey's back-up option for Jack Smith once fit so perhaps wor th keeping him on, love him or hate him.

As I said the other night, isn't great we can even have these debates again! Devlin, Power et al, I salute you!! :D

We'd be more than happy to help fund it via the Red Army Fund (erm, I'd have thought - it's not down to me!), but I don't know how this would sit with the League regs - ie do they allow a "third party" to fund part of a player's wages and so have that sit outside the 60% cap? We'd have to look into it. Plus given Wise wants a decision by Wednesday, what we've got available at the moment wouldn't be enough to commit to a year-long contract and we don't have a lot of time to raise the remaining umpty-nine grand! All that said, if we can help, we will, but we've not been approached as of yet.

Yup,  quite sad to see though. I thought we were improving with regards to this kind of thing, but shows how much we need Devlin and Powers full involvement.

I think Carson should get involved now as he does f*ck all for this club.

Who ever it is, loan or not, he must have already had a preliminary word or its definately a free transfer with low wages....cause not going to secure any other signign in 24 hours so to fall outside the window it'd have to be a free agent or transfer......
On the wages side of things, i'm sure the club have already thought it through carefully....but if they havent I cant imagine Ince would be demanding that much anyway so potentially we may have to see a loan signing at a percentage wage cost???

Either way....I see this deal with Ince rapped up by midday today....be it signed or not signed! :|

I can't believe this 60% wage cap business was overlooked by MD and BP. They must have found a way round it. Devlin's main asset is his communication skills and I think if he was around at the moment he would be able to clear up the apparent confusion on the issue.

As you say, other than those two (and SSW), the rest are fucking muppets.

From what I heard on Friday Bob Holt struck me as a man out of his depth.  His knowledge of football was shocking, how this man was picked to be our temporary PR man is beyond me.

He really didn't seem to have a clue oon what to do next when asked about this 60% limit.  Pick up the phone Bob and phone Mark, I'm sure he'll have an idea or two.

Thinking about it surely the fact that our two main men (MD & BP) are out of action could be used as an excuse why we're in danger of breaching the limit, this would not have happened if Mark was at the club full time.

From thiistits headlines:

Quote
Chief executive Mark Devlin has told the Swindon Advertiser that the club has asked the Football League to consider special dispensation for clubs newly relegated to League Two, effectively granting them one year’s grace from the restrictions.
Devlin said: “We have made an enquiry to see if there are any special rules or circumstances which could allow this to happen.
“What we’d be looking for is that 12-month period to allow clubs like ourselves to come down to the 60 per cent figure.
“We’ve yet to receive a response on that though.

Only 60% of the clubs annual turnover can be spent on the wage bill. We are currently spending 60% thus not allowing more wages from our turnover to be spent.

except it is based on last years figures for a predicted turnover.....however with gates no longer at 4,500 but 6,500+ then perhaps this is also a way in which we can seek some sort of special dispensation from the league as our circumstances have changed so dramatically, with Bill Power and the increased gates (which will continue to rise should we stay top and sign Paul Ince).....
If they hadnt already planned how to resolve it financially, I think the league will show some understanding on this one and accept either that we need a 12 month cooling period as MD requested or that they will accept a revised projected turnover (which would allow much more room for wages) based on our sudden change of circumstances.

I hope at least!......it is the men in suits though so there compassion for a previously struggling club making a push to resurrect themselves isnt likely to be great!!

So the answer is, stay away fans start turning up so the club gets more money, so our turnover increases so Paul Ince can play for us. Everybody wins then.

But they won't turn up until Ince signs (not that it's guaranteed they will), so he won't sign.

Its all a bit Bill and Ted. We need Eddie Van Halen.

I think it would have been easier to fund if they turned up last year but that'sv ery easy to say with hindsight! A couple of big gates now isn't going to make up the money we need!

I'd agree with that too. Its not worth all the fuss, and potentially fucking up our finances, just for someone who will only play a handful of games. It's not as if we're struggling at the moment is it. If evans/pook/weston/whoever gets injured wise will have to get his boots on - we have plenty of options in there.

Havcing read the BBC article, which discusses how Hartlepool sorted it out, I'm guessing it's a case of waiting for Bill Power to release a small amount and for it to be specifically towards wages - and thus we have to show that to the FL.

All I care about this year Reg is getting promoted.  If that means we have to sign an old head instead of a youngster then so be it.

Ince will be an amazing player at this standard, other teams will be shitting it at the prospect of facing him, especially as we're un-defeated.

I think Wisey will be able to explain the signing to the players and Ince will be another man to impress in training and on the pitch.

We already have a fairly large quota of "young" midfielders though, so it could be argued another experienced head wouldn't go amiss:

Monkhouse
Shakes
Pook
Weston
Stroud
Caton
Brown
Holgate

None of them into their late 20's just yet.  Ince also seems more intent on coaching, so it might be that Wise has a belief that a role exists within the club for that right now - he has mentioned that it's taken all his and Poyet's time so far to the detriment of their own fitness.

Here's a tester for you Petra to test your credentials.....if you pass the test I'm sure there'll be any number of posters on here wishing, to also test them.

Julius Tomin najat majitelem jedné restaurace ve welšském městě Swindonu jako hospodský filozof.

What is the obvious error in this piece about Czech philosopher Julius Tomin?

Translation

Julius Tomin in the early hours of this morning was found loitering around the vicinity of arriba's recycling bin.

Now we all know that this is a lie ....................... because Ralphy stole it.

Petra, as part of the immigration procedure are you asked to revert all names to their English equivalent? ie, you refer to Petr as Peter. I'll just call you Bob

Slovaks don't understand Czech??????????????

Oh dear cover blown.  I spent a fair amount of time in the Czech Republic and the Czech and Slovak languages are so similar that you'd have no problem understanding what a Czech was saying, if you were really Slovak.

Now can you either stop pretending to be some eastern European girl or just post on the Thisis forum as this whole wind up is fucking shit.

Thought I'd post on this, as there are several aspects of the Ince business which seem about as clear as mud to me...

The rule (as far as I understand it) is that you are not allowed to spend in excess of 60% of your turnover on players wages.

How does this work though. Surely you can't know your turnover in advance? So, either it is based on the turnover from last year, or on a projected turnover for this year.

If it is the latter, then here is a potential solution, which every supporter can help with: If we each pledge to drink more beer at home games, then the forecast turnover will go up and we can sign Ince. Everyone's a winner.

Another solution would be to have him nominally employed as a coach, who plays when he feels like it. However, I suspect there are rules on what defines a 'player' (# games played when fit or something like that).

Surely this report is slightly contradicting?

Wise said at present, Ince wouldn't get into the team however in the article further up, it says

'And whether the issue can be resolved in time for Ince to feature against Chester, again, no guarantees or promises.

As for the manager, he is just looking forward to getting down to work with Ince.

Wise said: “I think he’s coming down to sign. That’s what he told me. Hopefully we can get him registered.”

I believe I read somewhere that he'll be in the squad for Chester if he signs in time, so hopefully will be on the bench in place of Pook!!

The Gazette & Herald today said that the deal is now all but signed, and that they hope he will be available for Chester.
The reason for him being able to sign according to the G&H was the increased attendances bringing in higher revenue than forecast. Might be bollocks but hey

Some of the players were asked to take a pay cut so that Ince can come. They said no it was not fair and they would rather leave but they are now thinking about it.

That didn't happen.

did I do something wrong? I know that some people here do not like me because I am not English. My opinion is English people need to adapt and become more European and not just dislike people from the new Europe countries just because the papers tell you too. :(

according to "her" email, petra's surname is orlovsky.

now, maybe i'm wrong but slovak is very similar to polish. in which case, the surname orlovski would be masculine and feminine would be orlovska.

so mickey hasn't done his research properly  :-))(
