Dennis Wise...mmmmmmmmm.....not sure.
Will Probably get more people throught the turnstiles on a Saturday but when things start to go pear shaped, which they inevitably will, will he have the tactical nouce and man management skills to get us back on track?
I think it's also going to be a case of how much money is avaliable to him to spend on wages etc...... I hope my doubts are ill-founded and he goes on to be an ace manager. But you can't help but wonder.........
I hope he turns out to be an ace STFC manager though. I hope that the arrival of Bill Power will provide him with more options when targeting players, providing Bill Powers money isn't all going on paying Wise's wages leaving minimal for squad improvement.

I'm not sure about this.
It will be very good to have Wise in our midfield, that's one problem position solved in the short term. Wise did take Millwall to the FA Cup final but he inherited some very good players. We don't have any good players so it's up to Wise to buy them in. Does he have good enough contacts, yes i think he does, hopefully Austin will give him the money to buy some decent players in and we could make an immediate return back to the heady heights of L1.

Wise and Poyet according to the back page of the adver, not sure what to make of it at the moment, apart from the BP quote of
"whatever we do won't be behind Iffy's back"
Well unless Iffy was sitting in on the interview it seems like that's exactly what happened.

If Wise is coming here I'd still want Iffy very much involved, especially with the youth teamers as I think he has done a job job with them and can do well in preparing them for 1st team football.
I'd be very very sad if he left completely.

But would he want to stay? If he did fair enough, but that must be a blow to your pride, from 1st team manager to youth team coach.

Exactly, its easy to work up in any position but being downgraded so to speak is not an easy task.

I don't think Wise will do any better than Iffy tbh. However he does have better contacts and the clubs profile will be raised a bit.
If he plays he'll become the player everyone else wants to take out.

I really am undecided on this. I feel if we needed anyone it should be an experienced manager who has lower league knowledge. If we couldn't get one I feel Iffy should've had a good crack at the whip. Wise and Poyet maybe a good move- high profile names which may interest players here, but then again may back fire. Can both still play or are they too old. Poyet used to be ace at chelski..

Really have no idea wether to be excited or anxious!
Time will tell I guess, so in the mean time, whoever is manager next season has my full support.
Would love Wise in midfield, but that doesn't look like it'll happen.

Jan, I don't think this has been done behind Iffy's back. Power and Devlin both commented to various fans at the Huddersfield game that Iffy was not 100% likely to be Manager, so it suggests this has been worked on for a while.
I originally took it that they were bringing in someone high profile to assist and Iffy might not like it, but it seems the talks may have taken a different route at some point.
I'd like Iffy to be given a similar job to that of Parnaby at Middlesboro, having complete control over the entire youth set-up at the club. Director of Youth Development or whatever the title is. I think the board should work hard to persaude him to stay because I'm happy he'll become a very good Manager in time.

Like most other people have said so far, it'll be great for the club profile, they may attract some other high-profle players too - am very much undecided on the actual performance issue though...fingers crossed it works! I hope there is some way to keep Iffy involved too.

Wise and Poyet? ?? F*** me  I can see that being spectacularly sucessful or a complete disaster. I can't see it being anywhere in between. My gob is smacked. I feel very much like I did when we appointed Ossie Ardiles out of the blue. It was an exciting appointment but you didn't have a clue how he might do. Of course history shows he was a phenomenal success. Let's hope history repeats!
