Shearer as an Englsh ledgend, thats for sure, but I think he lacked the tecnical ability to be rated in the same bracket as the likes of Zidane.

Shearers finish for the 4th v teh dutch in euro 96 is one of my defining great football moments

Is see what your saying, but Shearer wasnt paid to be a fancy nancy boy with skills. He was paid to score goals.

He did it in an old-fashioned no nonsense way, but he did the job so well....not the most skillfull player but probably most effective.....

He plays for Barcelona, he's Brazilian, he's so ugly he hurts my eyes and any little thing he does people go crazy about even if it's nothing special at all. There's nothing to like.

My empty plate of fish and chips talks more sense than you!! Honestly I have never hear so much mince in my whole life! When you type, does brown stuff seep out of your nails?

Mr Zidane for me.

Or Tugay.

Tugay?Huh??? Tugay?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?

Zidane in his prime is the best player of the last 20 years in my opinion. As demonstrated t'other night though he's way over the hill these days.

My top 3 players in the world currently:

Ronaldinho
Henry
Gerrard

Zidane was good, but over the last 20 years I have to throw Alan Shearer into the hat. Goals, Goals and more Goals. Pure class...

For similar reasons, Romario is worth considering. I believe he is about 40 now, and is still playing well for Vasco, although at a somewhat slower pace than in his prime.
