Greatest ever player? Well my first reaction was that it's me, but in retrospect, Reeves for King does possess a mean slide tackle and a ginger afro. So I'd say RFK.

I'll go for Rooney considering he's only 20 he is unbelieveably good. Plus he's not a total prick like Ronaldinho.

George Best was the greatest player of all time imo, simply because there was nothing he couldn't do and he did things that no-one else could.

I don't think the move to PSG  from Gremio did him any favours either.

French football is a decent standard no doubt but it's not quite up there as Italian, Spanish and English football in terms of quality and profile.

Rumour has it he had a bit of a taste for the old French nightlife in Paris and had a few public tit for tats with his then manager.

Anyone have a good alternative shout for the title of greatest player of the current generation?

He plays for Barcelona, he's Brazilian, he's so ugly he hurts my eyes and any little thing he does people go crazy about even if it's nothing special at all. There's nothing to like.

Apparently,Real Madrid didnt sign him cos he was "too ugly".So they signed pretty boy Beckham.Result -more shirts sold, less trophies won.Now that even his free-kicks and corners are shite, what is the point of Beckham?

Tugay?Huh??? Tugay?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?

Zidane in his prime is the best player of the last 20 years in my opinion. As demonstrated t'other night though he's way over the hill these days.

My top 3 players in the world currently:

Ronaldinho
Henry
Gerrard

Zidane was good, but over the last 20 years I have to throw Alan Shearer into the hat. Goals, Goals and more Goals. Pure class...

Shearer as an Englsh ledgend, thats for sure, but I think he lacked the tecnical ability to be rated in the same bracket as the likes of Zidane.

Shearers finish for the 4th v teh dutch in euro 96 is one of my defining great football moments
