Certainly on the way to becoming the greatest player of his generation but when you rank him alongside Pele and Maradona he’s not in the same class.

I’d put him on a par with Ronaldo a few years ago.  Different sort of players but he’s a long way to go and enough time for his stock to drop like the chubby forward’s has in recent years.

For me greatness isn't only about what you do on the pitch in your career, but its also what you can give back after it.....in this regard Pele stands alone, as not only a great player but a great ambassador for the beautiful game....

 Maybe Ronaldinho can achieve this.

Agree with that although the erection dysfunction ads while a worthy cause I'm sure were a shame to see especially as it was a forced financial move.

Lot of time for the Goat and Zola as well in that respect.

Erectile dysfunction is a problem to many ordinary fellas....you just need to read this site Wink .....shows Pele to be a man of the people.

I personally don't like the guy.
But that's my opinion. Okay he can do some great things with a football but he also makes a lot of mistakes.

anyone can do backheels, especially when you're doing them to someone like eto'o who is going to get on the end of them.

he needs to absolutely boss more games, which he doesnt do, perhaps he doesnt need to playing in such line-ups for club and country.

and he doesnt score enough goals.

that said, we are witnessing undoubtedly a great of the generation, any player who can carve themself their own position must be brilliant. cantona did it, rooney has to a certain extent.... but dinho really has really made that 'gap' his own.

Yorke had a wonderful chance to put Liverpool 1 nil up tonight when he fucked up a chance Mr Bean would have scored.

Because of him the European Champions are out.

Don't be ridiculous, they needed 3 more goals to go through. Why not blame Carragher or Garcia for their misses. They could've done with Hyppia being fit too.

agree that he needs to be more involved in games to be regarded amongst the very best, how old is he? there's time to improve yet i reckon.

I don't think the move to PSG  from Gremio did him any favours either.

French football is a decent standard no doubt but it's not quite up there as Italian, Spanish and English football in terms of quality and profile.

Rumour has it he had a bit of a taste for the old French nightlife in Paris and had a few public tit for tats with his then manager.

Anyone have a good alternative shout for the title of greatest player of the current generation?

Ronaldinho's scoring record is not really that impressive bearing in mind he's more of a forward than a midfielder. Also he plays in the Spanish league which has a lot more crap teams than the premiership.

Not a patch on Bobby Howe nor Leigh Barnard.
