Lower your expectancies.

It'll be a young player with one season experience (probably spent on loan in L2)

Caolan Lavery is 5ft11.
Lavery wouldn't be described as an out and out goalscorer  Hmmm

1 goal every 5 games so far, might be him though I guess.

I thought it may have been Eoin Doyle until I saw he signed for Bradford yesterday.

Callum Lang from Wigan is another possibility. Loaned to Morecambe last year.

Scored 1 in 3 for Morecambe, not a bad return.

Good shout. 1 in 3 is brilliant for a struggling Morecambe side.

If it is Lavery (which is a possibility it seems, here are a few quotes from Blades fans about him.

Quote
The guy is league 2 at best. Panics in front of goal. Not a great attribute to have when your supposed to be a striker. Seems a really nice guy in interviews , but that doesn't make you a good striker unfortunately!

He's featured throughout pre-season with the first team so maybe Wilder wanted him to gain more playing time. I would think Lavery has been told he's backup for the first team squad at best and a loan/permanent is preferred for both parties. Not giving him a squad number seems a bit odd though

He was well worth signing, he contributed in L1 and for most of that season him and Sharp would've been our best pairing. He's an interesting player, he has a lot of good attributes but not quite enough of anything to make it at Championship level. He's not played enough football in his career. He needs to brush up on the basics such as ball retention. A full season in L1 or even L2 would do him good. But we're at a stage where we should sell him if possible. Good luck to him. I think he'll be a good L1 striker if he can play enough games in the next season or two.

Lavery has done his bit, it's time he moved on though. I can see him doing very well for a Charlton type club.

I like the lad, and hope he comes good/does well. He always gave 100% which is to his credit.

I wanted him to do well, but he hasn’t made the grade has he? I think this ship has sailed.

Got to look at goals per 90, not just appearances. Over 20 of those 30 games he came on as sub, it's pretty ****ing hard to average out as a 20 goal a season striker if you're getting 10 minutes a game

Lavery doesn't even come close to ticking the 'out and out goalscorer' box.

Shitty fans laughing the rumour off, he's just been given the number 10 shirt there.

Still spouting their own urban myth about us thinking we had won the league in November.

And there’s them pinning their hopes on a L2 striker from Cheltenham. Even with all his money they still sell off their good players when another push may well get them in the mix.

Still, I wouldn’t mind being a run of the mill Championship club.

And who was the skull who thought the League Cup was some tinpot competition when we won it. Every club played their firstXI and the winner qualified for Europe. Well, except us who weren’t deemed high profile enough.

And so we would be if we had an owner who ran his own investment management firm and was prepared to fund losses of £12m/year to achieve it.  Not impressed, if I'm honest.

That wouldn't have been that bad, in relative terms, if it wasn't for those pesky Bournemouth people and their fairy tale showing that such losses are just about right to get you into the Prem.  Villa on the other hand..............

Been reading good things about Nelson.

One commentator said something along the lines of: "He just loves being smashed in the face". I think we're going to like him.
