All of these recently called up players have featured for England at lower levels but Swindon have helped all of them move up to the tougher age groups where games are probably more important than potential.

We do have rather a lot of feathers in our cap when it comes to player recruitment next season. Rather a lot of the nation's most gifted young players are going to look upon our cap and remark upon just how feathery it is.

I still can't figure out if Mason's rise to the Spurs first team is a result of his good fortune or Spurs' bad fortune

Has to be a bit of both.

I thought that we might have been able to sign him up permanently pre-season as he had injury problems and Spurs might not have wanted a sick-note on their books.
Hey ho.

5th is still achievable for Spurs.
We should probably start praising the notion of fielding young homegrown players (many football fans whinge that there isn't enough) instead of wondering if there's a negative to be discussed somewhere.

I wonder if/how many other lower league clubs are looking at our model with a view to replicating it. Or put another way, will we face increased competition in the market.
Hopefully a proven model will outweigh how much % of wages other clubs can offer.

As good as he was for us (at times), there's no way he's good enough to be a regular for a top 6 Premier League side is there?

Not on the form he showed here. I think most of us would rated him above Hall but firmly below Pritchard and Mass. Still, it's amazing what staying injury free and a good run of first team football can do - no doubt, game time is still the best thing for any footballer.

Spurs seem to think otherwise. I think he's improved since then though (but as Reg says on the other thread re Kane, a big part of that is the learning/development he did while he was here). We are a star factory

Would be good news for English football, although selfishly, I'd rather they all kept signing long-ball journeyman. Makes things easier for us.

I suspect that many lower league clubs have been trying to do what we are doing for some time. It's not as though we've hit on a fantastic new formula that nobody's ever heard of. The difference is........ we're good at it.
